  1. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

looks much older than he is and reminds me of my 1977 Glen Mhor from Singnatory (which is already empty). Solid craftsmanship, very old-fashioned, of the flavors clearly old and not new and therefore all the more exciting. Great whisky.

It was a Speyburn 10 OA with 40% from the late 1980s.
    • Nose
In the nose first something OBF, but then shower sticks, a great, resinous fruitiness, a little old book, very old-fashioned
    • Taste
Then round, soft, full of that great mixture of wood, fruit and something old, a hint of leather perhaps.
    • Finish
long, malty, slightly fruity, warm, without being alcoholic.

    • Nose
Pale. Hay, wet wall paint, green apples. Salt dough, loam soil.
    • Taste
Hay, vodka, caraway, anise. Short and bland.

A rather sweet whisky, young but correct.
    • Nose
Pretty young, green, sweet, on the apple and cereals.

      Grassy, sweet, with more cereals.

Nose: warm spives (cardamon and nutmeg) and vanilla.

    Taste: aniseed, vanilla and orange.

Finish: long and citrusy with liquorice and nutmeg.

Quite oily and very easy drinking.

Speyburn distillery is situated in Rothes, which makes it very much a Speysider

  9. Feusi scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

Ahh, not bad for the price. A fruity maltiness enjoy the tongue, a rather shorter finish with nice malt and far away a bit peat and smoke.

  10. hsmithjr scored this whisky 70 points Connoisseur

There are better blends on the market than this single. It's OK, but unchallenging.
