Excellent whisky, very complex. A sherry monster supported by peat present but delicate.
    • Nose
Big, very expressive sherry. Many fruits: cherries, blackcurrants, figs ... It's almost jam. It's obviously woody but it's subtle. Very classy undergrowth: bark, earth, light mushroom, pu erh. Soya sauce. Complex and explosive.
    • Taste
Old-fashioned peat (a distant mix of tar, camphor, coal and oil), old wood, leather. Coffee and chocolate bitter. And always this soy sauce. It's drier than the nose but very pretty all the same.
    • Finish
Very long, on noble wood, old furniture, licorice and peat "old"

Nose: rather dry, complex. Figs, blackcurrants, spices (nutmeg), woody "exotic" "dark". After a few minutes it's really very fruity, very ripe fruit, apricots. Not a hint of alcohol that exceeds. Then we go on a little smoke, a little earth, tertiary organic notes (mushrooms, leather). The water releases some pastry flavors and lets the fruit explode. Palate: spicy attack, do not be afraid of the wood that is there. Cocoa, coffee, it's drier than the nose I find. Vinegar, a little salty, smoked or peaty? Many fruits also cooked, prunes. Final: dry but fruity, long, mushrooms, dead leaves.
Very nice whisky, a lot of class. We enjoy the complexity and finesse of the whole.
