    N: Dunnage fruits personified.
T: Unsurprising spirity given we followed a 41yo with 14. Evolves on a bone-dry sweet grapefruit fruitiness.
    F: Sweet dry grapefruit,…
C: Context is everything. Despite my scant notes, this is a hugely pleasing malt in its entirety. We peak as hysterics set in.

    Scores a B+

[October, 2017]  After a lot of newish stuff over the last weeks I need a real oldie tonight.  That is why I selected this sample out of my library from a time when I neither did tasting notes nor scored whisky.  But I can do this tonight (thanks to my sample library)...

The colour is old gold and the texture shows fat sticky tears that build very slow legs. The nose is of that typical Glencadam bubblegum aroma that some people adore and others hate.  I find this really distinctive especially when mixed with these herbal, tobacco and cooked fruits aromas as in this case.  It is a little leathery too, and smells like an old library room.  It arrives warming and coating in the mouth with some peppery moments.  The taste is not as strange as is the nose and offers a very fruity (mainly exotic fruits) and spring floral profile.  The finish is of medium length and adds some quince flavours that are delicious.  It dries out at the end (cardboardy, papers).  Water is not needed as it increases the strange aromas and flavours only without adding new impressions.

A very unusual dram with a strange (but interesting) nose and a quite nice taste and finish.  That is why I am into single malt whisky:  I regularly find new and interesting tastes even after 25 years of drinking this stuff...

A lovely, and extremely rare bottle of 1964 vintage single malt from the little-seen Glencadam distillery, bottled at 80 proof by Cadenhead`s in 1979.
