Very fruity, powerful. Red fruits, vegetal, oily, chocolate. Warming alcohol effect. Very pleasant whisky.

Very fruity and oily. A bit musty note, prunes, sultana's. Some vegetal, 'green' notes, quite some alcohol. Raisins, ripe citrus, lime. Some earthy and leather notes.

Very fruity, a sour edge underneath, lemon. Prunes, some chocolate. Sparkling, with a far bitter note. Oily. Powerful. Berries.

Still some power, a whiff of smoke, some bitter fruitiness, prunes, vegetal. Pretty long. Dark chocolate. Warming effect in the stomach.

Benrinnes and oloroso maturation often go very well. This is another example, certainly if your like your portion of dried fruits, but also like the heavier side of whisky, with meaty and sulphury notes. The palate and finish really profit from adding quite some drops of water.
    • Nose
Dunnage warehouse, slightly salt, toffee, dried apricots, dark cherries, sulatnas, milk chocolate, honeyed cereals and a faint hint of coconut. Later, there are notes of leather, firecrackers and beef stock. It's both heavy and fresh and fruity, this works!
    • Taste
Oily, slightly sour, on oloroso, dried fruits, sour grapes,  firework damps, herbs, apricot, lots of ginger and a bit of cinnamon. Quite harsh without water, gets much smoother after adding quite some drops.
    • Finish
Long, pleasantly sour and bitter, where again oloroso takes the lead, with sour grapes, figs and sultanas. There is also some apricot, some herbacious, bitter grassy notes, ginger, and cinnamon stick (not the powder). Also smoother when adding water.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A fat aroma of stewing peaches and lychees dominates the nose with side notes of a just opened packet of juicy sultanas and moist fruit cake. Positively enchanting!Palate: Silky and oily with reduced tropical fruit juices, fireworks, grape juice and a sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg.Finish: Lingering firework smoke, rhubarb, passion fruit and peaches in a full-bodied and fruity finish.Overall: Big and fruity with fireworks to boot. This is a flavour bomb of a dram that is instantly gratifying and supremely delectable.

The comic-book style label features Pete McPeat and Jack Washback off of that there whiskyfun.com, having a one-sided

conversation about the distillation process at Benrinnes up until 2007/2008.
