Whisky Reviews for Benrinnes 1988 McC
8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.05 points
- A reasonable Benrinnes, although I like the oloroso sherry versions more.
Soft, friendly, oaky, fruity, vanilla fudge (reduced: sweetere and more exoctic)
Medium to firm, spicy, peppery (reduced: fruity and spiced pineapple, meaty)
Suprisingly burning and warming
- nose: Fruit. Oak and a hint of malt. quite nice smelling. Sweet oak, it reminds me of something I cannot lay my hands on. hint of cirtrus.
Initial taste: soft and delicate. marshmallows.
Finish: short-medium: also as delicate as the taste. vague hint of citrus brown sugar
Price: that's ok
Presenatation: don't know this was a sample
Comments: sample from sampleswap with Hvdree.
Overall this is not a peat bomb (there is no peat) not a sherry whisky, nor is this a scotch tasting like bourbon or anything. It is very light and delicate but also quite pleasant.
- But why bottle things like that?
Alcoholic and generally insignificant: wash and turnip with, vaguely, a little vanilla oak ...
Why am I drinking this?
It burns the tongue and cheeks on odd aromas.
- Blind tasting of a sample.
Apricot, apple, vanilla, brown sugar, malt, cereals, grass, honey, hairspray and a little leather. Eventually some beeswax.
Cereals, vanilla sugar, malt, caramel, lime, honey, marzipan and grass. Pretty soft.
Malt, lime, honey, pear, vanilla, grass and cereals.
- tasted with JJ
compare with Benrinnes 1984 BF
citrus, honey, orange and spices - cinnamon
malty, dusty, beefy, liquorice and fudge
medium drying with spices and bitter fruits
- Typical benrinnes, Good , okay, but not so special
