Whisky Reviews for Inchgower 1989 CA

11 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.15 points

  1. St. Pauli scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

Despite its age, this whisky noses immature and is rather plain and simple. For me, it's a proof that not all single casks are good. This one shouldn't have been bottled.
    • Nose
      70 70
Raw and metallic, like old copper coins. Also heavy on toffee. I wouldn't gess that this whisky is 22 years old if I had smelled it blind. This smell vanishes for the largest part after a while, making room for apple sauce and vanilla. It's all a tad simple and weak.
    • Taste
      78 78
The taste is better (yet I only tasted it after letting it rest for a while). What you get is apple, spice, dough, yeast, barley sugar and vanilla.
    • Finish
      76 76
Rather long, with apple sauce, ginger, wood and vanilla. Plain and simple.

  7. tuntime scored this whisky 84 points Expert Junior

Malty, porridgy spirit notes, orchard fruit. Somewhat oily mouth, mildly acrid, grassy, not a particularly notable cask influence. Best part is the fairly long, warming finish.

with Jock Show @ slijterij Henk Peter
    • Nose
      leather, citrus and wet carton
    • Taste
meaty (pens), oily and spices - pepper
    • Finish
      citrus with some spices

  9. Sonett scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Light malty with vanilla and herbs.
    • Taste
Sweet vanilla, quickly taken over by peppery spices.
    • Finish
      Medium long, peppery

  10. Ras Mazunga scored this whisky 86 points Super Administrator

The spirity nose disappaers after 10 minutes or so but the mouthfeel stays spirity even after adding water. The smell is LOT like speculoos. Ginger with wet cookies is what I visualise.
