This is one of those who gains with more sips, the% come across as intense and full, you always discover something new as usual only with 50-54%, where the saliva slowly pulls out more. Nice part, only had a good 87 in the beginning, but with more try it turns into an 88.

A fantastic profile, entertaining and very eclectic, but it all comes together. For the full review go here: https://halbendrinks.de/2022/09/25/relicts-of-st-magdalene/

    Tasting: July 2022
    • Nose
A clear distillation character, cereal, floral, some vanilla, sweet citrus and some honeydew melon.
    • Taste
A great nuttiness, with nutmeg and almonds. Sweetness of pears, a little vanilla, some spices and a touch of salt.
    • Finish
Fantastic honey sweetness in the finish. With pears, peaches and some vanilla.

Nice fruity dry nose. Strong citrus-heavy body in the taste. Beautifully integrated bitter orange.

Very good drinking whisky. In its time, it was probably exactly the right choice for that segment. Today, of course, crazy expensive for a “drinking whisky”. Still nice to have tried it! Full review (german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2021/01/19/sieben-super-st-magdalene/

This is the best whisky I have ever tasted. A true pleasure. It was striking that my scalp tingled. Never experienced before. I was in the company of my son-in-law. He had the same experience.
Score can not be anything other than a 9.99.

I had five bottles and four of them went down a treet - I am so tempted to open the fifth but I know there is no more left.

Excellent Nose, Taste and Finish - A rareity in many ways - I agree with Jim Murray on this.

  10. Feis_ile did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

St Magdalene was closed in 1983 and, like many other closed distilleries, became very popular in the following years. There are currently hardly any St Magdalene's on the market now perhaps the right time to obtain a bottle. Jim Murray rewarded this St Magdalene with 95.5 points!
