A very expensive whisky, but glad I opened it. Extremely complex with notes of fresh cake, later they turn into wonderful warm, spicy apple compote. A great experience.
    • Nose
Very complex and multi-layered on the nose, you can smell it again and again and discover more aromas. At the beginning sweet, slightly sugary with light blossom honey and some grape sugar, which you always get free in the pharmacy. There are also fruity components, slightly tart apples and green grapes mix to make compote. Aromas of an orchard strewn with fallen fruit and some sweet, ripe orange are present. The scent becomes floral with hay, a little vanilla and cloves and cinnamon come out of the fruit compote. There is always a gentle, sugary sweetness of shortbread and light cake batter.
    • Taste
Woody and spicy in the mouth with hay and flowers, plus vanilla sugar.
    • Finish
Here, too, comes vanilla sugar, reminiscent of freshly baked cake batter, plus a still warm apple compote with cloves and cinnamon.

    Tom03 is a great guy!
    • Nose
Old dusty notes, honey, very fruity, passion fruit - maracuja and syrup. Fruity - peach and orange. Syrup and later some floral notes. Spices - aniseed and cardamon. Apple pastry and Cristmas cake. Reminds me of older Glen Garioch.
    • Taste
Spices, orange (peel), honey, fruity spices, woody - pine resin and in the back some floral notes.
    • Finish
Medium drying with some bitter fruits. Vanilla - custard, woody - oaky and later again some floral notes.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90 all times.

I know good old Serge is not really a fan of this flavour profile but I simply adore it.  He calls it bubblegum (some say it reminds them of MAOAM fruit yummy), to me these are very astonishing cherry and strawberry aromas of unusual strength.  I emptied five bottles of this delicious stuff so far...

If you try it you will be flabbergasted by this strong profile and I promise you never had a comparable dram before (unlike you tried other Glencadam from the early seventies like the Blackadder Raw Casks, but they are not as powerful as this one).

I can only suggest to everybody to try this baby if you have the chance to get your hands on a bottle or you find it at a tasting bar.  Even if you do not love this profile it is worth the experience...

    Serge from Whiskyfun says:

Glencadam 29 yo 1972/2001 (52.5%, Signatory, Silent Stills, cask #7821, 298 bottles)  Glencadam was closed when this was bottled, hence its belonging to the ‘silent stills’ series. As you may know, Glencadam is now working again. Colour: gold. Nose: this one is much fruitier, almost bubblegummy at first nosing. A full pack of strawberry sweets that you just opened. As fruity as new make, I’d say. And again, hints of rosewater, even incense. Rhubarb pie, marshmallows. Good balance despite this heavy fruitiness. Faint whiffs of smoke in the background and slight maltiness. Mouth: quite exuberant and hugely fruity again. Bubblegum and apple liqueur (Spanish manzana liquor). Hints of rubber, white pepper, vanilla sauce. Gets maybe a tad too oaky after a moment. That’s it, oak, bubblegum and pepper. Finish: long, getting spicier towards the end (cloves, paprika) and even rubberier, with also notes of orange marmalade. Comments: interesting to see young whisky character (bubblegum) combined with the usual oakiness of a much older one. SGP:731 - 83 points.
