This is impressive, this Macallan, having an absolutely beautiful dense aroma and a beautiful palate too, no less. Balance is extensively good here - you can tell that at a glance, which at the very end had become only better.
    • Nose
Broad (dark-hued?) sweetness is coming out straight away. Wood rosin, elusive rummy relish, muscovado, oats/oatmeal cookies?, sugar corn pops, chocolaty mocha coffee/cappuccino, caramelly soft fruit, box of chocolates/chocolate covered dried cherries, cherry brandy. Well, I am nosing a delicious Christmas cake, and the whole set of sweet ingredients being reaching for my nostrils. I got currants, some sultanas, raisins, candied peel and, maybe, almonds somewhere in the distance. Stand firm, this hasn't been completed yet. A new upholstered furniture has slipped out, sandalwood on top of that. By crikey it smells just delightful!
    • Taste
Deep oaky sweet tones saturate the taste buds in the first place along with savours of dark chocolate and black liquorice wheels. It turns then a bit sour, zesty, sprinkle of citric acid, sulphur content remains fairly low though. Spicier middle has been intensified by candied ginger, dried cloves, coriander seeds, nutmeg, prune.
    • Finish
After a blazing burst of spices, that gin-and-tonic dry effervescence transpires. Juniper?, anise (anisette?), nice warming spiciness, prolonged. It vanishes away on grated nutmeg and on cherry stone.

Wish that Macallan would still make something resembling this. This I would buy. Sadly, even this profile is gone.

    Purely too unbalanced.
With water noticeably more pleasant, but he gets a nasty artificial touch ...

Dense, fat sherry, not very complex. On the contrary: quite simple tricked and striking. 87
    • Taste
      87 87
Fat, quite sweet, sherry bomb with an earthy undergrowth, slightly hot with not very well integrated alcohol. 87
    • Finish

Sherry full, oak cabinet. Raisins, dates, figs - the usual sherry-flavored potato. Bitter. 87

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=305 Color: Madeira Oloroso Nose: Strongly salty! Oranges, nuts, wood, pepper and a herbaceous spice that supports the sherry flavors. Increasingly intense with raisins, sour cherries and punch. Taste: Dark red fruits, ultra spicy! Pepper, salt, wood, floor wax, sugar, nuts, tobacco, oranges, raisins and again this sticky sweetness (as in the EU version). The last part of the taste is dominated by herbs and salt with an emerging freshness. Finish: Not so long - the spice is preserved and is accompanied by sugar throughout. The still-lasting mint freshness is now accompanied by mocha, coffee beans and dark chocolate. 88 points N: 89P / G: 87P / F: 88P
