Whisky Reviews for Bruichladdich 10-year-old
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.18 points
- a nice pleasant to drink old school standard
- 86 proof, 4/5 quart, USA import.
Terrific old school nose. Aromatic. Herbal oils, substantial peat and soot, beautiful Cuban cigars, leather, and some sweet, citrusy accents.
Beautiful whisky. All the above, with lemon drops and honey and dried herbs. Despite just 43% ABV, this has some oomph and substance behind it.
Not a lengthy finish, with a bit of smoky ash and lemons and grapefruit pith.
- My bottle is a US import (86 US PROOF/ 4/5 US QUART). Western Pacific Import/Export Co, Carson, California (CA-1-1980). Likely bottled in the late 70's, containing 60's Bruichladdich distillate. The shoulder tag "AGED 10 YEARS" also looked a bit different from bottle on this page.
- Whisky from a good old time. Slightly dusty, but still very good.
The moment, when you notice directly at the first nose, that comes from a bygone time .... which one hurts a bit.
Wonderfully fruity, oily aromas, a certain maturity, despite an age of "only" 10 years.
Plenty of ripe yellow stone fruit, sweet vanilla and a hint of "Bruichladdich sharpness".
Consistent in the mouth, the sharpness becomes a little clearer, Blind I would tap on more than 43%.
The Abgnag can not quite keep up. Rather slightly metallic notes (probably the youth) and not as round as expected after the nose.
