Whisky Reviews for Craigellachie 1999 IM

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.75 points

  1. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

a light summer whisky, young or young, but delicious.
    • Nose
Sweet and fruity, somehow silky, liqueur, plum (light), cooked pear, green apples, fresh, some honey and some wooden plank in the sun.
    • Taste
quite strong, certainly cask strength. Very fruity, pearly and certainly not old to the aromas after, a few light New Make notes are to be felt. With water, the focus is on honey and a perfectly present oak note.
    • Finish
light, vigorous, sweetish, slightly oak, and surprisingly long.

  2. rottendon scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Pretty neat and in my experience quite typical of the distillery. Significantly better than the original bottlings in the same class.
    • Nose
Fruity and fresh just after pouring, pears and apples, a little sweat, a touch of sulfur and also an idea of rum-raisins. Life does not change anything serious, it is fuller and stronger, a little more sulfur, less fruit, the rum raisins I can not find, but now clearly caramel. Warms sweet, slightly stale applesauce with a few apples that were already behind, and still sulfur.
    • Taste
Honey sweet with a few fruity hints, the alcohol gently starts to become quite powerful backwards, oak taps also tannereladen quite clearly. Pleasantly full mouthfeel.
    • Finish
Goes medium to long, finally applesauce and mashed potatoes, the tannins are gone first, the honey follows next.
