T: light, watery, waxy arrival, expecting more punch here - no water needed. Spice, anise, closed fruits, boiled sweets infused, all very intertwined with the wood.
F: …turning bourbon like, [especially in the fruits department], and coffee. Vanilla now coming through, all unravelling slowly. More vanilla...lovely... Wood spices always there but this is a classy icecream finish. Raisin xmas cake and double cream now on the tongue and a touch of milk of magnesia. The oak spices linger on the top of the palate.
C: Most reminiscent of the Thomas H Handy on the nose. I was expecting much more on the arrival and as a result its a little uninspiring. However its well worth the wait for the creamiest vanilla wafer ever. Overall, its the new quality oak which is on show here coupled with a fine spirit. The finish is where this Single Oak Project no. 189 is at.
