It's the mineral type of Springbank - pretty drinkable
    • Nose
      89 89
Green fruits, carambole, limes, little grassy, wet hay, whiffs of smoke, soot, some minerality, sea breeze, a bit briny, later on also a bit of sweeter yellow fruits, honeydew - not bad
    • Taste
      90 90
Very very creamy and mellow, little punchy, more greenish and leafy stuff, subtle sweetness, more minerals, limestone, lemons - quite good
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium long, warm, zesty, more grapefruits and herbs, hints of old books

The aroma is dense: sea, salt, iodine, a hint of smoke, meat, smoked products, bacon, lard, silage, herb flowers, spices (pepper, vanilla), citrus notes, honey, wood. Very good! The taste is spicy, peppery, slightly sweet at first: lots of spices, fresh honey, vanilla, coffee with cinnamon, fruits, herbs, smoked meat, smoke, salt, oak. In the end, a bit of bitterness. Delicious! The aftertaste is soft, restrained: smoked, light smoke, honey sweet, pepper, vanilla, citrus, oak with bitter taste. Prolonged. Conclusion . Lovely old Springbank. At the same time, it is also sweet-honey, and slightly smoked-smoky, and fresh-marine. All elements are reserved and solid, but they are not lost and declare themselves. Good balance and pitchnost. The score is 90 (n22t23f22b23).

[February, 2012]  I had this dram during a "Springbank" tasting at Bonn.

    In
my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 92,5.  My notes state a very fruity profile.

Nice but lacking smoke and a sherry cask. :-)
