From today's point of view, the scores in the 70s points are absurd - if there was such a great malt to the release of the bottle, which is the scrap here - sorry - then today there is almost only scrap.

I like the malt - retro style behavior fruity - with great full-bodied spice and a body like you would rather find it at 21yo malts in 2018 - it reminds me straight to GF21 but imho is much better
    • Nose
very sweet old wood, sanding dust, furniture polish, lemon, nutmeg, licorice, cardamom, aniseed, orange, orange oil full, a hint of mint, jasmine tea, old leather, horn shavings
    • Taste
slightly sweet with a noticeable waxy note, pleasant floral citrus, with tree sap and sugar crust - round, voluminous with a tingling lively spiciness on the palate
    • Finish
medium - sweet with licorice, orange peel, beautiful dark wood notes, light delicate chocolate bitterness

[February, 2007]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 24 Euro in February, 2007.  This is one bottling out of six for a special millennium edition intended for sale to Allied employees only but as it was rather weakish a lot of bottles found their way into specialist retail shops for quite a lot of money back then (150 Deutschmark = 77 Euro in mid 2000).

[March, 2009]  Another bottle finally was empty that I bought for 32,50 Euro in April, 2007.

[June, 2009]  Another bottle finally was empty that I bought for 24 Euro in March, 2007.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 75.  My notes state an unpleasant bitter (oaky) taste with a lot of flaws.  I used these bottles to demonstrate a flawed whisky to visitors.  But why bottled Allied such flawed stuff for their employees?

[November, 2010]  I had this during a community tasting near Bonn.  I bought this bottle for 32,50 Euro in April, 2007.In
my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 75.  My
notes state an unbalanced dram with some flaws and an unpleasant woodiness...

originally released some time around the end of the 1990s when the distillery was still owned by Allied Domecq. This bottling has become rarer and rarer since being replaced by the official 12yo in 2004.
