3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.00 points

  1. Karstman scored this whisky 91 points Expert Junior

An old spirit rather uncompromising but with a nice sweetness to it.
    • Nose
Old wood and wood polish. tropical fruits and honey.
    • Taste
Herbal sweets, honey and slowly some pineapple and peaches. warming alcohol stings the tongue and leaves notes of oak, leather and licorice.
    • Finish
On the short side. Peppery sweetness like Heksehyl candy

  2. MaltMartin scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Again a very complex Glen Elgin from the 1970's. Misses the subtleness of the Glen Elgin Samaroli 1971 though.
    • Nose
Lots of tropical fruity sweetness of pineapple, apricot and peach. Kiwi later on. Some flowery notes as well. Cut grass. Even a whiff of smoke.
    • Taste
Punchy and powerful. More on cedar wood now. Also canned Del Monte bananas and orange peel. Lemon sherbet. Aniseed. Bitter-chocolate.
    • Finish
Quite spicy with stuffed peppers and nutmeg. More bitterness at the end. Ginger.

  3. Aetius scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Nose: Fruit, grape and general sweetness and
honey, covering a somewhat citric character. Strong oak and hint of
    pepper. Score: 22/25
    Taste: Banana,
fruit, honey and oak. Very sweet, but not cloyingly so. Hints of citrus
and malt, and just a tad bitterness. Score: 22/25
    Finish: Still
sweet and honey-like, but other flavours begin to gain the upper hand,
such as citrus and spice. Incredibly, the oak grows even stronger. Score: 23/25
Balance: Broad, mellow, smooth and rounded. warming in
the mouth, and while not a simple whisky, neither is it particularly
complex. Well balanced and unpretentious. Score: 22/25

    Total: 89/100
