SMWS Tasting Notes: Shortly after Barnard passed that way, a distillery was built at Dufftown, on the Fiddich river, downstream from its more famous sister of that name. It is today one of the least-known of all the distilleries, rating little mention in most books and none at all in some. The whisky is available only in independent bottlings.

Plain in colour, from a plain oak cask, the whisky has a high, tart, fruity nose which softens noticeably with water. On the palate it is sweet but not sugary; an Eastern malt at its best and an excellent summer drink.
