    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

    1 of only 220 bottles from cask no. 72
    A rich golden syrup colour with excellent beading from a refill ex-sherry Spanish oak hogshead.A surprisingly mild nosefeel with fruit cake mix (Granny’s Christmas cake mix), seaweed and new hessian coal sacks in the background. Sweeter notes become apparent as the whisky opens: black cherries, thick cream and meringue (slightly burnt). All the time becoming smokier – a very well mannered but old fashioned example of this famous make. A very smooth texture with a sweet start and then billows of smoke, drinking very well straight. A little water adds a mineralic element, reinforces the hessian notes and actually increases the nose prickle. Mulchy fruits with browned apples and green grapes and a hint of a Highland Toffee. Complex and yet, very easy to taste.

    I liked that very much. The 5cl were gone.
    • Nose
      Blind Sample:

      Nice golden

      A very nice, maritime touch welcomes me. Some smoke, malt and nice salty. From the background now come more tropical fruits. Goes well in the direction of passion fruit, mango, lychee. A very pleasant freshness comes to it. The colleague is generally very fresh and fruity. With some time in the glass, it becomes pepperier and spicier. Vanilla and some lime. The alcohol is very back.
    • Taste
      Fiery start. I would say Chili Catsch a la Talisker. Everything but in the pleasant area. In the taste only a subtle smokiness. The salty is also back at the start. Ordinary biting on the tongue. Lemon, sour cherries, apricots and tropical fruit notes. But these are less in the taste than in the nose. The taste is also very fresh and partly mineral. Has something of sandstone dust.
    • Finish
      Medium. Again, some chilli and slightly salty. Ne flag Smoke and ends in a creamy fruit taste with slight bitterness.
