  1. GlenSikkes did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

Only 216 bottles from cask no. 1046
Deep amber with crimson lights, or polished rosewood and excellent beading. Dried fruits with a hint of fresh apple (green) in the background. Starts to open up with polished leather, and a mixture of cedar and sandal wood – possibly individual cigar wrappers. A hint of burnt toffee also apparent. Tasted straight – a very thick mouthfeel, both sweet and tannic, and very warming. Water highlights the burnt toffee, bringing in ginger – possibly brandy snaps - and sandalwood notes, increases the mouthfeel and adds an even smoother texture, reducing the tannins. A lovely, traditional Macallan.

A very nice Mac, fresh fruity than imagined from the datasheet, but he keeps what the nose promises.
    • Nose
Full juice orange, peach but also, red apple, generally quite a lot of fruity notes and quite fresh for a Mac from the Sherrycask (and such a color), honey, hazelnut, fresh waffles, milk chocolate, some fine woody notes also
    • Taste
Almost everything from the nose, juice oranges, overripe peach and apple, a little bit of cherries. Also, nice honey and hazelnut, vanilla, crisp cinnamon notes, green tea a bit and lavender, as well as nice toffee, hint of pepper as often on Mac
    • Finish
Medium long, pleasant, now more woody and light malt, and then the fruits in a drier form from the middle part

  4. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Beautiful, elegant sherry whisky without slapping sherry and with interesting lighter fruit notes.
    • Nose
Beautiful, rather dry sherry notes, dark fruits, some leather, orange peel, oak (slightly musty), but also baked apples and an unusual bright fruit note in the background.
    • Taste
Strong onset, lots of oak at the beginning, distinct bitterness, licorice, complemented by sherry and fruit notes.
    • Finish
tart oak notes, ripe apples, tobacco to the end.

  5. Carsten scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Macallan, 1997-2012, 14y, Cask 1046, Adelphi, 51.6% Color: orange brown Nose: milk chocolate, oranges, amarena cherries, slightly fresh fruit notes (apples), some old wood ... with water: ripe apples in the foreground (no profit) Body: medium-oily Mouth: caramel, marmalade, pepper ... with water: sweet, sour ripe fruit Finish: medium-long, warming, chocolate, mild notes mixed with fruity notes Conclusion: 90P, sherry bomb, but still elegant. Class nose. Better without water
