Needs time and water to open up and become a bit fruitier. Straight out of the bottle it's fairly dusty and flat, but o boy does it change!
    • Nose
Raisins, dried plums, lemon juice and cardboard boxes (old, dusty ones). Also some spicyness (nutmeg, cinnamon, even some ginger maybe?)
    • Taste
Not nearly as sweet as the nose may make you think. It's fairly dry with a big surge of vanilla and raisins. Reminds of of Dutch "vla met boerenjongens" (custard with raisins), but with some nice biscuity, malty touch and marzipan. The spicyness comes in at the end. Develops nicely, doesn't pack a huge punch. I would expect a bit more with this 50+ ABV. Very balanced indeed.
    • Finish
Finish is dry, with a fair amount of tannins. Not unpleasantly so, very oaky and soft. Right at the end there is a certain nuttiness; walnuts. It's a very long finish indeed.

A decent sherried Linkwood. Might be a little too tanninic and astringent for my taste.
    • Nose
Juicy oakiness. Beeswax. Oranges and tangerines. Some floral notes. Nutiness.
    • Taste
Strong sherry notes. In a harsh and astringent way though. Dried fruits and orange peel. Very tanninic as well. Spices of black pepper and nutmeg. Chocolate and espresso coffee.
    • Finish
Long. Gingery and liuorice. Becomes bitter. Minty.

A full sweet sherry nose with fruit in the middle, the fruit acid just does not win the sweet sherry ... yes, tasty. The arrival is full and robust, sweet currants with a fruit sour remain with strong spicy notes in the mouth, long hang ... mmm .... in the aftertaste the wood is reasonably dominating and becomes somewhat bitter at the end. good whisky, full of flavor, reasonably balanced but a bit on the pricey side. 82 points
