Enjoyable, yes. But the palate is a bit of a letdown after the interesting and fairly complex nose.
    • Nose
Very vegetal with plant sap and cactus juice. There's a subtle fresh peat that I'd describe as a sort of light version of the lovely, sauerkraut, peaty smell of young Ledaig. What follows is white pepper and chestnuts, with a slight waxiness and wet grass and hay.
    • Taste
Oily and fatty with loads of white pepper. Very nutty with lemon, pineapple and vanilla. Almost no peat. Slightly boring after that lovely nose.
    • Finish
A bit dry with lemon peel, almond and oak.

    • Nose
Notes from an online blind tasting:

Cold smoke and sweat, pear, juniper blossoms, fruit schnapps, dry wood, knotweed, slightly medicinal, mineral, a cooling freshness blows through the glass, grain, freshly mown grass.
    • Taste
Spicy start. Flowery. A bit of soap. The smoke is very far back. Slightly oily, pear peel and sour oranges. A really nutty bitterness plays a role. Maritime echoes and with the second sip more herbs.
    • Finish
Dry - but also somehow oily. Green grapefruit and woody bitterness. The spark of smoke prevails at the very end.

Nervous, delicate, and incredibly light in color and body.  Takes time in the glass for the signature Springbank wax and brine to develop.  Good complexity with a nice peaty finish.  It very well could be Longrow.  Looses complexity and texture with water, I prefer this one neat.

"Something of a curio, this one - a cask strength single malt from

Springbank distillery, with more than a hint of smoke about it,

suggesting it might actually be one of the distillery`s other single

malts. Strong and youthful, this is an assertive dram with notes of

flax, wet peat, hay and pear eau de vie."
