A difficult whisky. One that I might like one night, and then not so much on another night. I tasted this on two different occasions, so I'm pretty confident in my final assessment. Not a bad whisky at all, but disappointing considering its price of 150 euro per bottle.
    • Nose
Dried red forest druit, cherry, pure chocolate, coffee and sweet sugariness. But also damp wood, pine, leather, chili pepper and a musty aroma. The alcohol is pretty dominant. I like my sherried whisky to be a bit sweeter and have more of that lovely caramel and fudge.
    • Taste
Very dry, lots of tannins. Chocolate, roasted almonds and coffee. This whisky is a bit rough. Don't hesitate to add water, it makes it a lot more polished.
    • Finish
Some tobacco, lots of spices and some chocolate. A long, sharp and bitter finish.

A real sherry monster, you have to love it.
    • Nose
Sherry (raisins), sweet, sharp alcohol, rubber.
    • Taste
Raisins, caramel, bitter of the wood, light smoke, rubber, sharp.
    • Finish
Long, raisin, sweet, bitter touch, some smoke and tobacco.

First impression: sherry. Second impression: sherry. Third impression ... Phfoeh, this is really something for me. I like to smell a sherry whisky, but there are limits. This is a great deal of pleasure over there. Well, I should not elaborate on what type of ripe fruit I'm sure? Typical sherry, eh.

Ditto. Addition of drops of water does not change the taste profile. It remains equally powerful.

    Drying, creamy.

Blind tasting of a sample. Instantly recognisable as a GlenDronach, no doubt about that.
    • Nose
Mocha, dark cherry, orange, dark chocolate, prune, raisin, roasted almond, liquorice (wood), apple syrup and oak. With water also a lighter fruitiness like cranberry.
    • Taste
Dark cherry, prune, mocha, raisin, pepper, almond and apple syrup.
    • Finish
Mocha, espresso, cherry, prune, almond and dark chocolate.
