Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 1992
12 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.53 points
Heavily sherried, dark caramel and prune notes
Sweet, balanced, well integrated alcohol. Powerful caramel, slightly woody
Long finish, nice warmth, dries up a bit, but lingers
- Batch 7 contains the following bottles:
1972 cask 710
1989 cask 5475
1991 cask 3183
1992 cask 1123
1994 cask 98
- This is the best 90s single cask Glendronach in my humble opinion. Comparable to some late 70s Gelnfarclas family casks but more fruity. In fact, I gave it the same score as the 1970 family cask (#6778). The old wooden stationary smell is very charming. After 10 minutes, some fruity sourness surfaces and it becomes all very lovely.
- My review can be found here:
Sherry, spicy wood, bitterness, dark chocolate, sweet red fruits, tobacco, liquorice
strong, spicy hot, full-bodied, tobacco, wood, ripe fruit, sherry
Chocolate, bitterness, wood, meat, grapes, long and warm
- A lot going on and very interesting, but too much sherry and dry/tannic for me.
Heavy. Rubber. Soy sauce. Raisins. Caramel. Burnt vanilla. Fresh paint. Tar. Something candy-like in the background.
Dry. Raisins. Dark bitter chocolate. Toffee apple. Black coffee with maple syrup. Coal smoke.
Long and drying. Burnt sugar. Rubbery.
- LMDW note:
A very rare cuvée of a distillery more and more appreciated by the amateurs, Glendronach 1992 comes from a single barrel, the number 1123. Bottled without reduction, to its natural degree, it is marked on the nose by notes of demerara sugar, spices and chocolate raisins, and on the palate with notes of mocha, raisins, dark chocolate, traditional rum, fruit cake and caramel apples.
