Minerally. Light. Slight honey. Maple syrup. Leafy.
Sweet. Pepper. Raisins. Woody.
- Tasted blind.
Nose: astonishment given the color, it's a good big sherry that comes to tickle the nostrils ... Nuts, macerated grapes. Figs, dry dates. Slight dry earth. Beautiful sweetness, marmalade of black fruits. Currants. Tobacco and old drawers. Mustard in the old. Salt point. With aeration of beautiful floral notes.
Palate: really fruity attack, on grapes, quetsches. Then it evolves to a more organic, vinegary whisky. At this moment, return nuts, wood, tobacco. Nice length, the alcohol is perfectly integrated. After a few seconds we stay on a delicate woody spicy very pleasant.
Final: long, woody, a little smoke. An astringent hair.
Really a nice profile, a little difficult to describe but very pleasant. I like a lot, it is greedy and very drinkable.
- LMDW note:
A very limited cuvée of a distillery more and more appreciated by the amateurs, Glendronach 1991 comes from a single cask, the number 3183. Bottled without reduction, to its natural degree, it is marked on the nose and in the mouth with hints of honey, fruit and spice cake, chocolate raisins and caramel apples.
- In his 2013 Whisky Bible, Jim Murray rated this bottling at 95 points
