This one is relatively round, with only a few hints of the distillery. The port barrel sets the overall tone. Basically more than solid, it depends a little bit on what you are looking for. Full review (in German): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2020/01/24/ex-port/

Very interesting color, very light, lighter than that of straw, but there is a very interesting reddish tea tone. It is difficult to describe. In general, whisky is not outstanding, something like Benrinnes 10.

Very interesting Port Finish that leaves a nice sweet on lips.
    • Nose
I can confirm that with the rose wine was also my first thought. But not with the alcohol. After a while in the glass sweet raspberries with honey and the Port come through great. The whole thing accompanied by a floral touch and a slight nutty touch ...
    • Taste
Man is the beautiful sweet and fruity. Then come directly spices, definitely black pepper. Milk chocolate and peaches. Tingling and fresh he comes over.
    • Finish
Short to medium, but nice sweet and warm, with a slight spiciness and slightly dry he goes there.

A great malt! But you have to give it time to unfold in the glass. Both pure and diluted a pleasure. The basic character is preserved, but with the addition of water changes the expression of individual flavors.
    • Nose
the alcohol makes itself felt, behind it then a meadow with blooming flowers, malty. If you give the malt some time in the glass the initial alcohol note disappears and the fruit and sweetness come to the front. In fact, reminiscent of color to a rose wine. A round of spices is also here.
Great and complex nose. Constantly you can find new flavors. Nothing stands out, everything is wonderfully integrated.

      with water:
much milder, the flower meadow is gone, but makes the fruit clearly.
    • Taste
strong start, tingling, but not unpleasant. Behind the first impression is a gentle character. Sweetness, fruit, spice. In the finish, the oak will come in and it will become drier; a nice interplay between dry and sweet

      with water:
Here, too, dominate the fruit and the spice from the oak.

    Tasting notes from Blindtasting

      Lots of sherry, sweetness, caramel
    • Taste
      Sweet berries, mango, dried apricots

  10. KayMeertens scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Caramel, chocolate-coated sugar candy, yellow raisin, mocha, orange, raspberry, honey and eucalyptus. There's also a nuttiness like almond and in the finish chestnut, which gets stronger when adding water. Water also adds some apple,
