I like the smell well, it fades in the mouth, but the finish increases again and is very long. Despite the low alcohol content of the whisky is strong. A solid bottling.
    • Nose
sweet smoke, pear and lemon, the whisky behind the smoke is very mild and soft, a touch of anise, hardly oak, a little vanilla, plus a fresh herbal note, lemon balm, dill
    • Taste
Noticeable start, light body, suddenly there is oak, which was missing in the nose, some lemon, the smoke comes late, but powerful
    • Finish
Sweet smoke, milk chocolate, getting bitter, slightly bitter herbs, Wick Medinight, long

This is a personal choice, and as a lover of peated whiskies, this one will score higher in my case anyway
    • Nose
Smoke is immediately released, I also smell seaweed, and the typical medicinal scent that is also characteristic of this whisky.
    • Taste
Smoke remains, but becomes somewhat tarry towards the end. I also notice vanilla flavors and a bit of salt in the end.
    • Finish
The smoke and peat remain in the mouth for a long time.

  6. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Fine whisky, the harmony of smoke and sweet bitterness, powerful, strong, rich, but at the same time soft and very pitey. Classics, what else to say.
    • Nose
Vishnevsky's ointment, medical and salty-marine aromas, wet coals of a rain-drenched campfire, peat - these flavors succeed each other on a weak citrus-fruity background.
    • Taste
Bitterness of charcoal, pepper, turning into sweetness, citrus notes, wet tree.
    • Finish
      Bittersweet, bark, dried citrus peel.

    • Nose
First, a lot of iodine and salt before a medical sweetness comes in, reminiscent of cough syrup or herbal tinctures. Then tang, sweet phenolic peat smoke and a dash of charred citrus.
    • Taste
Supple and very smoky and peaty on the go. Then sweeter, tincture of plant life, salt, ashes, again some citrus.
    • Finish
Medium length, salty-sweet development with some peat.

Aroma of sea and even fresh: salt, algae, stones, medicine (notorious ointment Vishnevskogo, iodine, bandages), vegetable oil, smoldering bonfire on the seashore, earth, peat, creazote (a little). With warming up sweetness, fruit (citrus notes), branches, foliage. The taste is a little sweet in the beginning. Then sharp spices (pepper), a lot of smoke and peat, charred wood, medicine in all its glory, bad tea (maybe herbal), butter, bitterness. In general, a pleasant little. The aftertaste is dry, smoky: obvious bitterness, wood, coals and burnt oil, peat, a little salt and iodine. Simple. Conclusion . May the admirers of this whisky forgive me. Let this "classic of the genre," as they say, but not mine. No. The fragrance is not without attractiveness. But then it's too rough, smoky and simple. Score 81 (n22t20f19b20).
