    Colour: Dark Copper
Nose: neat: sweet with chocolate notes, but not as strong as I was expecting, very fruity (to me pineapple is the most identifiable), some leather lotes as well. Everything is balanced, nothing hits you hard. with water: not much changed
Taste: neat: fruity, spicy, some sugary sweetness but not as much as expected from the nose. also "hotter" than the 40% abv. with water: as with the nose, water doesn't really improve it, but I'll say it brings up the spicy character a little bit forward.
Finish: some wood adstringency, but balanced by some sweetness, also some spice notes, overall finish is dry and kinda short. with water: nothing changed...
Comments: it's only my second Macallan (first one being the 12 Fine Oak, but I have a sample of an epic one in storage!!!). It's a good whisky, it's balanced, but nothing really pops. With brands like Macallan you always have high expectations. This is good but not great. Or rather, nose is great, taste is good. Still, if you see it for a reasonable price, I can tell you straight up I find it better than a Fine Oak 12, and well worth your time!
    MY SCORE: Recommended +

Conclusion: he is absolutely OK, but now really not an absolute blast whisky. 2nd Fill Sherry Casks? But I suspect more of a high proportion of Fino-Casks, as this comes through pretty well. Overall not very complex, but surprisingly strong for 40%

    • Nose
no as distinctly sherry influence as expected, creamy fruitiness, the fruit goes towards orange and apple, to slightly nutty notes (almonds), but all is superimposed by a very strong oak, quite surprising for a relatively young malt, after some time is the Oloroso with raisins and dried fruit (apricot) more clearly, also some beeswax comes through
    • Taste
good start for 40%, the basic oily character goes through well. The sherry notes are more apparent here, but here too a very strong oak dominates, plus some toffee and orange marmalade and a portion of leather
    • Finish
medium length, subtle sherry notes, apple, caramel, oak tannins, quite dry, behind the back he is expected to be quite bitter

Joa - you can drink that, but you do not have to. Especially not at the current prices. As written above, I have no idea what the regular tasted, in terms of taste, he would at least spontaneously not worth more than 50 €. In the finish rather weak, the rest is also very far away. This leaves a rather moderate impression. Too much wood and spice for in the end too little sherry, "elegant" looks at least different for me.
    • Nose
Immediately after pouring very impetuously, almost a little alcoholic. Hard to believe that it is actually bottled in the lowest drinking strength. Night a few minutes in the glass much more pleasing. Now the expected sherynots emerge, sweet and spicy at the same time. Very fresh fruit notes, not even the red berries and the usual sweet and fruity aroma conglomerate, here are also green apples and something in the direction of citrus fruit. The ubiquitous oak flavor is almost too strong in this case, especially for the young age.
    • Taste
Very mild and round, but also a bit snappy - is it pepper? In addition to the sweet sherry, the spicy oak notes are immediately there again. Some toffee, some sherry, some pepper and a lot of oak. In between a few nuts and some cane sugar somewhere. Despite the sweet sherry makes a slightly dry and very woody impression.
    • Finish
Short to medium. The sherry disappears quite quickly from the palate, then finally takes over the wood. It is very spicy and also quite dry with a penchant for bitterness. I do not really like it at the point

    Mine was an early bottle.

Good, but there's a lot more I would like to try in that price range before I by another one.

Fruity aroma, green apples, orange, camphor, heather honey and lightly peated malt. Medium sweet taste, malt, pepper, bitter herbs, vanilla and almonds. Medium long, herbal and peaty end.

I remember this better than it is now. It tastes rather bitter and diluted. While there are some good sides, this is not one I'll be coming back to very often.
    • Nose
Sherry, spice. Christmas cake, chocolate, cinnamon, kirsch. Tropical fruits, sugared fruits. Leathery, slightly salty.
    • Taste
More spice and sweetness now. Sherry evident, dark fruits, chocolate. A little flat though, slightly watery. An odd bitter note.
    • Finish
Not very long. Drying on the tongue, fruit and salty caramel. A light coffee thing going on as well. Warming, good on a winter's night. Still that bitter note is too prominent.
