I tried this 350ml green striped bottle (93-94 points) against the red stripe cask strength (91 points). While both are hugely phenolic and peaty, the green stripe is noticeably fatter and creamier. Whether or not that reflects better bourbon casks used, which usually imparts vanilla-like qualities to a whisky, or the use of different yeasts, or older juice (more than likely), the differences between this green stripe and the red one are very obvious.

Sharp, crystalline sea salt. Nori seaweed. Rounded peat with of course some phenolic diesel components, but smoothed over with a thick layer of sweet, soft, wonderful vanilla. This is what I call BALANCE.

Big of course. Very potent, very high quality. Perfect ABV (how can 57.3% not be!). Thick and creamy mouthfeel, buttery even. I usually don't call a heavily peated whisky "smooth" but I would say it is an apt description here. Not exactly fruity, but there are lots of vanilla and other sweet components to round out any unevenness. It does not need water whatsoever, but at 57.3%, let's try with a few drops of water... swims like Mark Spitz with few gold medals around his neck. Brilliant.

      Super long. Faultless, for real.
