Whisky Reviews for Glenfarclas 1994

9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.66 points

  1. Vmarcinv scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Nose is dry, light acidity, a little earthy, cherries in varnish. Taste - oily, boiled forest fruits, very dry, oak.
Long finish, tart at first, then drunk with dried fruit, dark chocolate, coffee and sour plums.
    Interesting Glenfarclas with different profile

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Nose: finish: Conclusion: He is strong, fruity, also wild. Not quite so elegant. But a nice sherry representative.
    • Nose
Rum-raisin, hazelnut-nut-chocolate, very sweet, toffee, also a bit dusty, but noticeably more fruits (in this case dried fruits) accompanied by a lot of oak.
    • Taste
strong, a lot of sherry, a little vinous, oak, quite bitter, spices. Very intense and probably with more alcohol.
    • Finish
bitter-sweet, warm, the vain Sherrynoten soft and the oak and clearly tobacco remains behind.

    N-
Symbolic rich and thick dried fruits of citrus with airy sharp wood and
cut grass, layers of gun powder and phenol char notes.

P- Nutty, burst of figs, dried apricot and juicy red grapes with toasted spices. Dry. F- Very long, full flavors with waves of juicy fresh nutmeg on the
return. A rich mature dram that still capture lots of the fresh citrus
that make it interesting and complex.

    Tasted blind
    • Nose
Full, dark fruits, spicy, slightly woody, sweet, almost port, chocolate
    • Taste
strong, sweet, spicy, tingling, with water: lighter - yummy
    • Finish
pleasant, slightly bitter, bitter with water - Lindt with 85% cocoa

  5. Gearmailteach scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

A wonderfully strong Sherrymalt. Certainly not easy drinking.
    • Nose
Uff, sherry grenade. Deep, dark sherry, damp wood and potato cellar. Dark amarena cherry in alcohol, pickled raisins, blackberry, leather and tobacco. Ahnelt strongly the Signatory Longmorn or the Ruby. In the background a fresh citrus note.
    • Taste
Oily and heavy on the tongue. Again dark sherry and old oak. The nose is repeated in Gaenze. Spicy and pleasant with lots of caramel and orange peel, not too sweet. He is certainly not young. And certainly a first-fill sherry.
    • Finish
Long and warm with sherry fruit, oak and coffee.

    Color: intense amber color
Aroma: Rich sweetness, malty almost like a wholemeal biscuit covered with chocolate. Aromas of dried fruit show up, sultanas and raisins.
Taste: 1994 is a fantastic vintage for Glenfarclas. Although this drop on the palate is not as sweet as in the nose, it shows a dry coffee bitterness, rich dark chocolate is very present.
Finish: One of the longest finishes Georg S. Grant has ever experienced on a whisky.

    Producer`s tasting notes:

    Rich Amber

Rich sweet, malty almost like a chocoalte covered digestive. Some dried fruit present, sultanas and raisins.

1994 is a fantastic vintage for Glenfarclas. This dram although not as sweet on the palate as on the nose, has dry coffee bitterness, rich dark chocolate also very much present.

One of the longest finishies I have ever experienced in a whisky. A truly moreish whisky (you will have more!).
    Bottled 2012.
