saulecker, a bottle you can not put away.
    • Nose
Honey tones and a hint of fresh strawberries
    • Taste
Caramel and hints of damp wood and then the clutter of strawberry jam on toast.
    • Finish
long and warm, fruit mixes with a powerful pepper note

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Hm, that's hard to judge. Due to the sharpness and strength he looks very young. Some of the notes sound like sherry cask, but that did not feel like it, somehow "strange", blindly I probably would have completely dabbled in the dark and possibly typed on Rumfass?
I actually like Mortlach, but remembered nothing at all has rung here (but the digital memory says that I also found something fungal in the 18 OA.).
So this could have been a real hit for me, but it did not really ignite, confusing, out of round, strange, somehow interesting, but then not really ...
OK, because of strength and SC you could give 50 €.
    • Nose
directly from the sample bottle smells of fresh mushrooms, from the glass then somehow (orange) fruity with honey, but too spicy, that needs some water ... ups, there is a lot of pure ... peach, apricot, orange peel, brown Sugar, some ginger sharpness remains, sawdust, and the mushrooms come in at an estimated 45% over again
    • Taste
brown sugar, malt beer, pumpernickel, dark chocolate, despite water still pretty peppery, he stays on the tongue for a long time, he even reminds a little of coke ... a bit earthy, but unfortunately without mushrooms
    • Finish
      long and peppery, bittersweet

  3. alectron scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
initially lots of peaches & apricots, vanilla, wet oak & spices, a slightly sour grape note, somewhat creamy, mineral/clay adding a nice savoury note against the sweetness. (86)
a bit later: vanilla creamyness moves to the fore, the expressive fruits from the start slowly fade into the background, also more wood now with a touch of ginger and occasionaly whiffs of fruit. (83)
W water: much more savoury now and lots of fresh-ish oak, also, some pine planks and some sawdust, slightly mineral as well, vanilla essence, slightly undefinable fruit esters now, citrus & unripe peach maybe, . (82)
W water later: a tad less wood, more green/unripe fruits, grapes, sour rhubarb as well, (83)
    • Taste
dry barley, brown sugar, alc coming through, wood, some faint bakery notes. (83)
W water: creamy, spicy, oat cakes & cigar box, some pears, anisseed,  (84)
    • Finish
more barley & wood, gets joined by honey, vanilla, grapes, also some grape seed bitterness occasionally. (82)
W water: turning quite dry woody, with a nice vanilla warmth underneath, faint tobacco, also, more of those bakery/oat cake notes. (84)
