    Colour: Gold
Nose: Clean, sharp, mineral, with some peat smoke, lavender and
light aromatic notes. Rather austere. Given time, it becomes slightly
    floral.
Taste: Rather light, slightly waxy, oaky, mineral and peaty, with
some vanilla and light aromatic notes. Subtle. The finish is medium, waxy,
    slightly floral, aromatic and smoky.
Impression: A rather austere and mineral
version of Glen Garioch that I enjoyed very much, thus giving a different view
on the whiskies produced at the Glengarioch distillery.

    Serge
Glen Garioch 1991/2012 (52.6%, Liquid Sun for The Whiskyman, 177 bottles) Colour: white wine. Nose: we’re more or less in the same territories at very first sniffs but this gets more mineral and even smokier, then grassier and kind of sharper and more ‘chiselled’. Also quite some coal and linseed oil, with a clear ‘Highlands’ style that may hint at, ah, err, Old Clynelish. Some eucalyptus as well. With water: more of the same, that is to say even more Clynelishness. Mouth (neat): great. The peat is really noticeable, and so are lemons and grasses. Wonderful cleanliness, it’s another wine-whisky, toward, say Pouilly-Fumé. Wonderfully mineral. With water: blimey, here come the wax and the citrons! Finish: long, always chiselled. Coats your throat. Comments: fully spirit-driven, I love this slightly austere style a lot. I can understand why the owner selected this baby. He did well! SGP:362 - 88 points.

This is a bit like a diesel engine. Starts slowly on the nose, but once
it is running on the tastebuds, there is no stopping it. I like it. Just do not
add water. It will cost you around 100 EUR.
    • Nose
The nose starts rather closed on a lot of spices, lemongrass and
heather. It takes a while before some citrus reveals itself. I am reminded mostly
of lime, but also wet stones. The smoke is present, but very discreet. Soft and
accessible, but rather docile. Water add notes of earth.
    • Taste
It is nicely creamy on the palate and immediately very spicy. Ginger and
mixed peppers. Less grass now (although it is still there), but a lot more
fruit. Again lemon, but also lime and even some bittersweet grapefruit. Again
that wonderful smokiness from the small amount of peat that was obviously used.
It all becomes less outspoken if you add water. I prefer it undiluted.
    • Finish
The medium long, bittersweet finish ends with a mildly salty touch.
