Honest, unpainted, on an increased fortress, unfiltered. What else do you want for the money? The bite of young alcohols is certainly felt, but the concept of whisky is not about that. Quite a drink, nice. And in its price segment it is quite difficult to find a more worthy straight-line smoke box.
    • Nose
Open, understandable, at least a little flat, but very honest. Extinguished fire, smoke, nuances of medical motives, a little alcoholic, vanilla, caramel, lemons, yellow apples.
    • Taste
Sweet with a pleasant astringency, the degree of a good bite for the tongue, flat, straightforward. Smoke, zest of lemons, caramel, vanilla, the nuances of the Duchess drink.
    • Finish
Short, quickly fading, due to the fact that the smoky seems more complex than it really is, in the distance is bitterness. Smoke, astringency, burnt branches, malt, vanilla, caramel.

A simple smoker. However, there are a few flavors that make him different. He is young, but there are others too. The mouth is the chocolate side, so delicious. Highly recommended for the price.
    • Nose
Alcohol stings in the nose, then solvent and light dry smoke, cereals, cucumber water, grass clippings
    • Taste
a little alcohol, pepper, phenolic smoke, grainy, vanilla toffee
    • Finish
the smoke passes over into the tannins of the young oak. The whole remains only medium.

    blind tasting
Nose: extremely moist, musty smoke, a hint of cowshed, sweet and sour fruits, with a little patience you will find oak and fresh walnut
Taste: fruity beginning before the peaty character takes over, quite strong in terms of alcohol
Finish: smoky with delicate bitterness, medium length
Conclusion: drinkable, for me a somewhat stronger opposite pole to the intensive peat smoke is missing, the 48% suit him well, 76/100

    That's tough.
    • Nose
fruity, sour (lemon) and very alcoholic. One recognizes a slight earthiness, maybe also peat, no, definitely peat. In the background a few bright fruits and a hint of vanilla. With water the nose becomes spicier, more pleasant.
    • Taste
strong peat smoke, liquorice in tons, somehow indefinable spicy. It becomes very light with water and the aromas remain.
    • Finish
smoky, peaty, liquorice, slightly tart, a lot of peat and a lot of liquorice, some salt. No change with water.

N- Always like the abundance offering of solid peaty notes on Benriach. Burning cardboard, fresh nuts, chocolate candy and sour milk. Underlay with elementary solvent notes, along laundry, coconut oil and wild flower.

P- Candy sweet, tropical fruits, plenty of earthy smokes with minimum wood influence. Energetic, oily, firm structure with quite a good width. Meant to be young at good price/quality ratio.

F- Medium long, echoing young spirits, coconut oil with delicious sweet-sourish fruit smokes. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

Nose: Oh my. This is almost a new make as far as the nose goes. if you have ever had a peated new make, this is it. Pears, apples, very fruity, a lot of peat, and so sweet. The color is almost clear too, with a wee yellowish hue.

Palate: Sweet, fruit and new-make-ish. lots of smoke, some dough, and cereals. Schnapps like almost. Young, young young.

Finish: Peat, Ash, and memories of far away fruit.

While visiting Balblair last year we had a taste of a peated new make, and this reminds me of it quite a bit. I am not sure how long this one spends in the casks, but boy, it’s a baby whisky. I would not recommend buying it if you are not a real lover of the new make, and peated new make to be more precise, but it you are , then it’s a good way to go.

    Let-down gimmick.
While there are indeed quite a few good peated BenRiach uit there, this one
definitely is not one of them. Around 35 EUR.
    • Nose
      The nose is pretty
alcoholic and not much fruit can be found. With some hard work, I get a bit of
white fruit, but apart from that only peat that makes this whisky smell like
potato skins. The grain is overbearing too and the whole seems not to work properly.
    • Taste
      The arrival is soft,
but again this is a dreadful young beast. Some peated bubblegum with grain and
hay in the background. Some plasticine, even. No, this is not very good. Salty
    • Finish
      The finish is medium
long on soot and new make, with a big chemical edge at the death.
