Whisky Reviews for Speyburn 1989 GM

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.25 points

  1. SpeyburnClanGermany did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
Dry wheat field in summer ... and one that I wouldn't immediately recognize as Speyburn.
      Speyburn secret, so to speak.

Some yeast dough is noted. Block malt, cereals, straw.
    • Taste
Hay and grass are also the first taste impressions with a sweet portion of white wine. Caramel with cough syrup.
Of course, it cannot keep up with the direct comparison with the 70s. But he doesn't need it either. He is independent and good.
    • Finish
      Medium-long aftertaste

    • Nose
      Colour:
      Bright gold

Discreet sherry aromas come to meet me first. Some salt and a lot of cereals. Smells like a freshly made bag of trail mix. Damp forest floor and conifers. Juicy orange and I mean here also a delicate flag of smoke. Also smells a bit of sour cucumber. Has something of ivy and menthol. Waffles and hazelnut.
    • Taste
Very mineral start. Slight biting on the tongue. Seasoning comes after. In the taste more almonds, hazelnut and somehow flowery.
At the second sip more oak and woodier. Grapes and plums. But significantly more bitterness and mineral. Sweet vanilla and caramel are trying to counter it. It really reminds me of plum brandy.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Significantly more bitterness and bitter. A creamy fruit sweet tries to prevail. But remains on the track. This slight trail of smoke remains until the end.

  3. Dr.Nose scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
A combination of minerals and fuitige sherry tones. Bit spicy
      and some grassy.
    • Taste
      Spicy and somewhat sweet bitterness.
    • Finish

Medium long, spicy and again the bitterness what has more and more the emphasis
      ... Too bad.
