    Little complex, Easy Drinking, has unfortunately nothing to do with the old sherry bottlings, which once made Macallan the "Mercedes" among the malts, disappointing
    • Nose
      Orange zest and lime, some vanilla, fresh bread, subtle herbal aroma, sherry only in the background
    • Taste
      Citrus fruits, some spices, vanilla and hardly any sherry
    • Finish
      Short and irrelevant

    I know this is the basic Macallan offering but with the name Macallan you expect a little more.

    This is a run of the mill whisky, very average to be honest and rather boring, perfectly sippable I am just a little surprised that Macallan would offer such a whisky.

    What I look for in any distillery is that the basic offerings have a decent profile and make me want to explore bottlings of more age and character from their line up, stuff like this does not.

    This is not a Macallan

    Vannila hints with cinnamon tones. It is light and supple on the palate, but lingers nicely for long. Very soft with a spicy aftertaste

    An interesting malt that can not hide his youth. Unfortunately, he was traded at completely overpriced prices.
    [Color] honey;
    • Nose
      mild, lime, orange, honey, hint of sherry, some vanilla,
    • Taste
      despite 40% surprisingly powerful start, first caramel, then oak and pepper; Orange, sherry, sweetness, malt, all discreetly, clearly still young;
    • Finish
      medium length Departure, malty, fruity, in the end oak, dry spicy;

    This bottle I have has a special meaning to me because I bought this from a friend who sadly passed away. Never the less it doesn't mean I'll give my full opinion on this one. Macallan really missed the boat when they launched the 1824 series back in 2009!

    Very simply knitted and unfortunately quite boring Macallan.
    • Nose
      Light citrus notes, raw breakfast bacon, vanilla, a trace of fennel seeds.
    • Taste
      Simple, mild and sweet with vanilla, malt and subtle citrus fruits.
    • Finish
      Medium long, gentle finish again with malt and vanilla, with a hint of spice.
