SMWS Tasting Notes: From the distillery which comes first on any list, built by Dewar's 101 years ago. This example is a 'cracker' but simple and straightforward. Pale gold in colour, with an initial light pastry nose, then wild-flowers and some solvent and white pepper. With water, Spangles spring to mind and the white pepper remains. Appetising and this carries on in the pleasantly sweet, well balanced, clean flavour, with a faint hint of aniseed in the finish. It would make a grand aperitif.
