I would not call this complex, but it is more than middle of the road. And
while the sherry dominates, it is very pleasant. Around 50 EUR.
    • Nose
I get classic sherry notes on the nose, such as raisins and cinnamon and
cloves. Loads of nuts, both almonds and hazelnuts. After a few moments, it
opens up to reveal strawberries and chocolate. The sherry is very prominent
      indeed.
    • Taste
The attack is creamy, honeysweet and softly spiced. Again loads of
sherry. Slightly drying, thanks to the wood. Good body.
    • Finish
The finish is medium in length, again on sherry and spices.

Nice attractive Glen Garioch. Although I think it is unfortunate that he is not firm-strong. I think that would have made it even better.

    Colour: Old gold-amber.
Nose: Smoky, sweet and smooth, very fruity, on
tangerine, orange, exotic fruits, pollen, honey and some floral notes.
    Taste:
Very smooth, sweet, fruity, malty, rubbery, on pineapple, orange and tangerine.
The finish is medium, sweet, rubbery and fruity.
    Impression: A nice sweet and
fruity Glen Garioch, with quite some rubbery notes.

    Serge
Secret Stills 'Highland' 1993/2008 (45%, Gordon & MacPhail, Van Wees, first fill sherry butt, cask #779, 860 bottles) This is most likely Glen Garioch. There were some utter gems in this shortlived series by G&M. Colour: rich gold/bronze. Nose: more rum at first nosing, I guess that comes from the combination of Glen Garioch’s particular fruitiness with some pretty active oak. Maybe that created some kind of tropicalness? Many stewed fruits including mangos, bananas and papayas, also some soot, tobacco, eucalyptus, liquorice, moss… It goes in all directions, I wouldn’t say it’s focussed whisky. Quite spectacular, in a way, a kind of fruity cough syrup. Mouth: rich, first jammy and stewed (pears, figs, apples) and then more caramelly, with also bags of raisins, butterscotch, millionaire shortbread, marmalade… It’s also one of these whiskies that hint at old slightly muscaty sweet wines such as Rivesaltes or Banyuls. Finish: long, with touches of smoke, more jams and more spices. Cloves, caraway seeds… Slightly drier aftertaste (black tea). Comments: a thick and rich concoction that remained elegant. It’s got something of the glorious old GGs (1960s and early 1970s), which cannot be bad news. May need breathing, as often with these profiles. SGP:652 - 87 points.

The nose is the best part of this whisky.
    • Nose
Neat: lovely body, with red fruit, cognac, sherry and wood;ww: the body becomes even better with strawberries and chocolate!!!
    • Taste
Neat: sherry, fruit, chocolate and wood. Even better with a few drops of water, but also (?) drier. Raisins and the cognac(although I don't like cognac).Nevertheless it stays nice, imho.

    • Finish
Sherry, spice and pepper; all together a nice, lovely and easy whisky!
