A really multi-layered and elegant malt, this 21-year-old Macallan. Macallan? I would never have come to that! Sugar, sweet fruits and also citrus fruits dominate the complex nose, the combination of sweetness and sharpness in the taste stands in part in contrast to the otherwise rather elegant and restrained nature of this malts. Intense peppermint and ground nuts powerfully dominate the end of the taste and the aftertaste. These aromas are in my opinion atypical of a Macallan and no matter if Macallan is on the bottle or not, this malt impresses with its elegant style on one side and the powerful and fruity character on the other side. A truly varied and delicious malt, like with great!
    • Nose
The Macallan shines brilliantly and purely in the glass, syrupy drops stick to the glass wall and flow back into the glass in slow motion. From the Premium Snifter wonderfully sweet and voluminous fruit flavors rise, green apple and slightly sour citrus flavors form a great contrast to the sugary nose. The alcohol is very dominant and powerful despite only 43%, slowly rising more and more sweet flavors. Vanilla and a touch of caramel play together, dark apricot and pale honey combine with a hint of orange and mirabelle to an extremely fruity and elegant nose. Finely spicy wood tones are subtly in the background and give the fruit a spicy touch. I could smell for hours on this harmonious and wonderful nose.
    • Taste
Tart and spicy wood notes dominate the first sip. Sugar, slightly candied fruits and yellow dried berries appear briefly, then discreetly wood sharpness sets in. A light dash of white pepper spreads tentatively between the lips and creeps slowly towards the tongue, the malt rests powerfully for a few moments in the mouth. The second impression is initially a bit reserved and thin, the next moment, the Mac shows again from its powerful side. Again the peppery sharpness dominates and distributes its plump warmth. While the spice slowly begins to fade, presented dried and in rum yellow fruits, lightly burned sugar and dark forest honey to advantage. Spicy wood elements flash voluminous, a touch of ground hazelnuts and fresh walnut show up and give this elegant and sometimes restrained malt a nutty character. The sweet fruits rise again and penetrate the fine nut notes, sugar and a hint of vanilla are distributed in the mouth. A sudden onset of peppermint gives the malt a fresh touch.
    • Finish
The complex taste blurs more and more with the reverberation. Fine-sour wood and fruit tones now dominate the aftertaste, the fresh hint of peppermint, once discreetly in the background, is increasingly coming to the fore. The nut note is also becoming more dominant, a mixture of milk chocolate and peppermint gum takes over the supremacy. Slowly, the already delicate and timid aromas echo the lingering sound and leave a fresh mint note with chopped nut pieces.

Find him overrated here, yes it's an atypical Mac, but there are better ones.
    • Nose
Green apple, light citrus aromas, heather meadow and light honey, vanilla, rosemary and thyme, nettle melon, lightly malted malt, kiwi, some tannins and caramel, apricot
    • Taste
Again the green apple, honey, full malt here, becomes the right malt bomb with every second more, rosemary, Earl Gray tea, cereals, kiwi, clear woody notes and tannins, menthol, everything rather green and light, some pepper and nuts
    • Finish
More light menthol, as well as the woody notes, a bit snappy chocolate and malt, medium-long
