    • Nose
The wine is also a medicine, and the good drink can be poured. This is really like medicine, ginseng and saponin are skin; peat, ash, and dried flowers are bones; fruits and preserves are gods. The peat notes that point to the end are like the smoke of the late autumn in the North, clean and warm without being aggressive, leaving an ensemble stage for cloves, cinnamon, ginseng and milk. The base color of the sweet fruit brought by the Shirley barrel and the slightly ham-flavored flavor make people want to believe that he has become a calm water from a non-stick hairy guy.
    • Taste
The entrance is the ripe fruit of too much toffee, ore, tanned leather and slightly tannins. The combination of oak and peat is like the classic Lagavulin. As the sweetness decreases, the flavors of black and saponin slowly emerge, and finally spices, tobacco, tar, and pepper.

The deeper flavor wheel discards the lighter flavors of various floral and milk foams in the smell of the scent. The oak and peat form the main color, and the majestic flavor makes it easy for the drinker to inter-textually serve the wine. The body is also at its peak.
    • Finish
Longer, will endless fireworks, licorice, vanilla, deep-baked Mandheling, cocoa powder.

Lovely and elegant. This doesn't kick butt but sometimes, you don't want your butt kicked. 93 points.
    • Nose
Subtle sherry and subtle peat, with fruits hidden underneath. There is also distinct candied ginger note after a few minutes in the glass. This is certainly not one of those that will make you say wow right away, but you know you will very well enjoy the heck out of it.
    • Taste
Classic Lagavulin, in the same vein as the regular 16, but dialed up a bit -- an older, more elegant sherry backed up by some lovely oak, with perfect peat in the foreground and background. Lovely. Adding a few drops of water bring out some pepperiness, but also more freshness and perhaps a bit more fruits.
    • Finish
It's 52% ABV but certainly doesn't feel like it. Drinks around 48%. Adequate finish.

Nose: savory spice of salt, black pepper, Thai
Curry and cardamom combined with dried lemon and something
Orange. Toasted almonds, nuts and tarnotes with lots of smoke.

Taste: Suesser entry. A combination of
    oriental spices, local herbs,
Dried fruit, gingerbread, dark chocolate, tobacco, tar,
Smoke, peat and charred (toasted) oak.

Finish: Long, straightforward, clean. With above already mentioned aromas in the highest quality.

Note: Absolutely straightforward in nose, taste and finish. Without any false sound!

    93 points (nose: 93 / taste: 93 / finish: 93)

A fantastic Lagavulin. Complex, expressive, which brings its share of emotion.

Superb nose, with enormous concentration and a personality that shouts "LAGA".
The peat is present, chiseled, on the charcoal, the grison, the bacon that cooks on the barbecue. But it's not overwhelming at all.
We have hay, a little stable, aromas of horse saddle leather.
We also have a very pretty tarte tatin, caramelized, with pear wrapped in rose leaves. Small almond cookie.
Then a dusty, precious woody, old furniture type, with cinnamon, milk chocolate.
We finish with a big camphoric note, fresh, which balances all the aromas.
      Superb complexity.
    • Taste
      94 94
In the mouth, we start with a much more saline peat, on the spray. It's creamy, with a bit of ash.
The hay is still there, cleaner.
When it comes to fruit, we look a lot more at citrus, even if the pear is still there. Lemon, bergamot, orange, all three in juice and zest.
The sherry is more indented than on the nose, with cloves, pepper and a millimeter oak.
    • Finish
      93 93
The finish is endless, on a creamy, saline, herbaceous and camphoric peat. We have spray, lemon zest, graphite, milk chocolate and a nice camphor freshness.

Very balanced and drinkable but lacking a bit of fruitiness - to be honest you can have a comparable Lagavulin also for a much lower price
    • Nose
Smoked ham and bacon, sherry wood, nutty, salty, whiffs of iodine - very good
    • Taste
Punchy, fine peat and smoke, woody, little sea weed

      With water: just little fruity
    • Finish
      Medium long and warm

[September, 2016]  I had this dram during a "Lagavulin Bicentenary" tasting at Bonn.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50

Lagavulin from ex-sherry casks rarely disappoints, and this new 21yo really is special. A perfect blend of smoke and sweetness on the nose, revealing additional layers of complexity with a drop of water. Some wonderful vanilla and tropical fruit mingles with iodine and salty sea air. Lots of leather and smoke on the palate, delivering solid islay characteristics. Very powerful finish that lingers long in the memory. Expensive, but definitely superior to the (wonderful) Distiller`s Edition. One for a special occasion (I`m glad that I bought a sample alongside the full bottle so I could try it straight away!).

Smell of fragrance: It is a magnificent smell of fragrance. Laga's wine always gives people a sense of integrity. The beginning is smoked, herbs and ginseng tea float on the surface, followed by peat and ashes as the second layer, and in the depths are melon ham, sweet and sour candied fruit, and fruit as the core. Soup of leather, cloves, elderberry and Chinese medicine. Wake up, red berries, red grapes, loquat paste, honey roasted pears. The peat is always shrouded like smoke, which can only be sensed but cannot be touched. 93/100
Taste: refreshing of honeydew melon and cucumber, honey citrus, sweet and rich fruit candy, very mature. Ores, leather, male cloves, laurel and other spices, black chocolate. Tar-like peat, a combination of oak and coal 95/100
Body: heavy body, well-structured, solid and full, smooth and smooth 93/100
Ending rhyme: long, deep coax coffee beans, bean to bar, torch 92/100
Overall: 93.5/100, all of Laga's great wines make people feel magnificent, the appearance of each element is orderly, and the smooth and smooth feeling of drinking is unforgettable.
