What a nice whisky such a Talisker
    • Nose
      Bottle opened
quiet in the glass: salt and cowshed the Kuhstall is the first sip
after movement: Talisker apricot, iodine, maritime smoke, red clover juice, herbs
very nice the iodine medically and yet sweet, beautiful salty and fruity iodine
What a nice whisky such a Talisker
    • Taste
Immediately a spicy complex start beautiful abundance on the tongue
Salt, chocolate on the palate, cherries, full-bodied makes you want more and is very distinctive maritime in the mouth
    • Finish
Barrel aromas delicious fruity, chocolaty, with wood and spice
long and humid ... what more could you want

Famous for its 'chili catch', Talisker 10 from the Isle of Skye is said to be 'made by the sea' - a suitable analogy. Its mineral, phenolic nose reminds of fresh, salty seawater with iodine and seaweed. A light sweetness of citrus fruits combines with restrained peatiness. The arrival is strong with a rich note of malted barley and dried fruits, leaving a peppery chili burn on the palate. A real 'afterburner' that finishes pleasantly warming, briny and spicy. The only downside is the excessive addition of artificial colorant (E150a), combined with heavy chill-filtration.

    Good peaty whisky to drink.
    • Nose
      Peat (not to much), Caramel
    • Taste
The peat gives the whisky the power that it needs.

Enjoyable and good at what it does, if but a bit one-dimensional. It doesn't get any more peppery than this. The peat is active too, perhaps more so than when I had it 4 years ago. But frankly I don't get a while lot else out of it. This makes for a great daily drinker if you can get it cheaply as it is in some markets. However I wouldn't go into this expecting lots of complexity.

Young and cheeky and somehow charming in the old way. A dram with character.
The PLV is fully ok. A lot of whisky for lukewarm.

Everything very far on the ground with spicy wood notes. Slightly malty lemon and some sea breeze.

Balanced is clearly anderst. But everything that has promised to nose, he's on the palate full on it. He knows how to assert himself. Even a little oily fruity. Respect.

Medium to rather short. Now it is clear that he is too young for top marks. Still, he picked me up. Thank you.

I do not belong to the Talisker fans.

But this 10-year-old Talisker surprised me. For the price of 30 € you get a really good whisky with a light smoky note.

Price-performance is top. Also suitable for beginners.

Not as good as my previous batch, maybe it is my taste, but I think Talisker is going down the hill or just a bad batch.

Simply a good one, one of the best standard 'starter' whisky's in my opinion.
    • Nose
Salty, sea breeze, some rubber, tobacco, slightly peat, spicy, pepper. And fruity, apples, and caramel.
    • Taste
Slightly peaty, salty, peppers. Ash. Some red fruits, full body.
    • Finish
Pepper, warming and pretty long, some fruits and spices left.
