    • Nose
The sweet scent of sherry, fruit, vanilla and raisins.
    • Taste
Nice full sweet taste. The vanilla and raisins come out nicely. The high ABV makes it a bit boring.
    • Finish
Nice creamy finish. Remains beautiful hang.

The dark color gives hope to intense sherry aromas and actually gives the Glenfarclas in the nose and in the taste of intense and voluminous sherry flavors. Spicy wood elements, dark berries, sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee and walnuts make the heart of a sherry lover beat faster. In just 8 years maturing in 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Casks, the barrels have bequeathed the Glenfarclas a wonderful color and intense sherry flavors. His youth is only noticeable to this piglet by a subtly barely noticeable sprightly Alhokol note. A great young Glenfarclas, I like it very much!
    • Nose
Intense and dark berries stand majestically out of the glass. Long and oily streaks run endlessly back into the glass while subtle roasted aromas and spicy oak notes mingle with the dark fruit. A touch of gingerbread and speculoos rising from dark, dried raisins, sweet caramel and toffee stick to spicy oak pieces. A very subtle cinnamon note mixes with sweet raisins and grapes in rum. Vollmichschokolade is in dark chocolate, a fruity orange note runs through the sweet chocolate. A touch of coffee powder rises from syrupy and sweet drops, again light roasted aromas are added.
    • Taste
Powerful oak flavors strike at the first sip on the tongues and the palate. The next moment the spicy oak flavors become bitter and dark freshly brewed coffee flows over the bitter and bitter pieces of wood. At the second sip, the dark dried raisins flash briefly and disappear again in a dark chocolate-coffee mixture. An intense spicy note rises from the dark chocolate, sweet caramel and orange peel are added while then increasingly bitter wood and coffee aromas set. Subtle grapefruit notes and unripe walnuts slowly end the taste and go slightly harsh over the finish.
    • Finish
Tart woody aromas and now intense grapefruit aroma make the finish awake. A subtle burning and tingling on the tongue exudes a plump warmth, orange peels are bitter and coffee powder spreads in the mouth. Dark and intense walnuts return and leave the finish long in memory. With austere notes of wood and the intense walnut aroma the finish sounds slow.

Strange, even though it's clearly sherry matured there's something in there that reminds me of a bourbon. Not a single malt from a bourbon cask, but really the profile of a bourbon.
    • Nose
Cherry, blueberry, toffee, pepper and oak. Some plum, chocolate and peach in the end. With water also caramel and raspberry.
    • Taste
Cherry, caramel, blueberry, pepper, orange, raspberry and raisin. When adding water also peach.
    • Finish
Cherry, prune, caramel, raspberry, chocolate, peach and raisin.

full, oak, sweet, syrupy, sherry, dark fruit, raisins, marzipan, wine-like mouthfeel, Christmas spices, full-bodied, with oak and spicy notes, but not sprightly, "noble drops in nut", dry, cinnamon-like spiciness

i can fully agree Kainen, tasted again a many month before opened bottle (more than 1/3 was gone from first tasting) and was overwhelmed what a good whisky was now in the bottle  ;-)

    This dram needs to breathe!

It is at its best when half the bottle is gone and the oxygen has done miracles in the bottle after a couple of months.

Tasted a newly opened bottle and one that had been opened a couple of months ago and it doesn`t even taste like the same whisky!
