I always found Caol Ila to be the most maritime of all Islays.
    • Nose
An undermatured but not unrefined nose. Strong sweetness mixed with maritime notes, a big dose of salt and some damp wood. Creamy vanilla, and there it is: fish notes.
    • Taste
Thick creamy solid arrival as can be expected of Caol Ila. Something medicinal there. Hint of roots ( i begin to hate that generic note), some salt and that ever present sweetness. Maybe some spices and charred wood. Fairly simple but it doesn't need anything else tbh.
    • Finish
Long, somewhat interestingly fresh with vanilla and liquorice. Quite a dry after taste.

    He will blow you undiluted!
I tried it, it hurts and you have the smoke in your mouth and throat for hours.
Playing with water (which I do not like at all) Supi.

Very good product, around 87-88. (Let's go for 87+), at least try. This is not a monster of complexity but rather impeccable in his style. Forget the 12 years on a desert island (he will find a supermarket in which to take refuge).
    • Nose
A nice little size, the price a bit misleading (almost 100 euros per liter) and tons of versions to 20cl (we do not find everywhere the 70cl). The bottled nose combines peat and candied. In the glass, we find these notes finely smoked and lemony. Alcohol is well incorporated. Together a little medicinal. Traces of iodine. A drug to advise just for inhalation (and effective against all diseases).
    • Taste
Very nice release of aromas, associating sweetness and smoke. It's very simple, a little fat, and very well done. A little "green" at the end of the mouth.
    • Finish
Persistent, sweeter, candied, slightly peaty. It's still very nice.

Good version, much better than the official 12 and 18 years
    • Nose
peat lemony, slightly medicinal, a little marine, quite fine, well integrated alcohol, some green fruit too.
    • Taste
powerful, very well integrated alcohol, quite oily, peat, lemon, olive oil, rubber, green tea. Not very complex but very beautiful aromatic persistence
    • Finish
very long, a little more candied, pepper, chocolate.
