A very nice whisky from my own vintage. The lush, deep, rich and complex flavours are ever changing in the glass. It needs quite some aeration time to fully develop. This dram has all the aroma’s and flavours I come to expect from old sherry cask matured whisky’s. The layering of this whisky is well balanced and that gives it a very luxurious feel. So to be short about it: Big Yum!
    • Nose
A rich, fresh, well balanced and complex whisky with aromas of summer berries (gooseberries, blackberries), lush sherry, dried fruits (sultanas, dates, plums, figs, apricots, cherries), appel, pear drops, appel pie, old polished oak, rosewood, mahogany, varnish, antique polish, caramel, toffee, fudge, crème brûlée, vanilla, dark honey, licorice root, bayleaf, mocha, chocolate, earthy tones, floral tones, beeswax, cinnamon, allspice, pepper, butter, nutmeg, overripe banana, tangerine peel, coffee, sweet pipe tobacco, leather and creamy oak.
    • Taste
A full, powerful, rich and complex whisky with aromas of pepper, cinnamon, ginger, ginger syrup, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, lush sweet sherry, coffee, dried fruits (sultanas, figs, plums, apricots), chocolate, mocha, red apple, pear, caramel, toffee, citrus (orange zest, lemon oil, tangerine peel), bitter orange marmalade, tannins, rosewood, cedar wood, old oak, varnish, antique polish, beeswax, butter, molasses, dark honey, sweet sulphur, slightly sour cherries, licorice root, cough syrup and more rich old oak.
    • Finish
A long, rich and slightly drying finish with aromas of wax, resins, dry sherry, dried fruits, coffee, tobacco, chocolate, licorice root, berries, sweet backing spices, tannins and rich creamy oak.

Superb old style sherry, nothing less! Sherry fruit, chocolate, leather, coffee, bitter wood notes, nuts, bit of salt. A very great 41 year old whisky.

  6. Rustamich did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Magnificent in every way, especially the finish.
    • Nose
Polished mahogany, bees wax, fresh tangerine pieces, black banana, sour cherries and the merest puff of peat smoke.
    • Taste
The peat is prominent, a mélange of stewed fruits: more sour cherries, rum soaked raisins, overripe plums, clove and cinnamon, marmalade and rich caramel sauce.
    • Finish
Luxurious, with cherries and woody spice leaving traces.

  7. Cipidos scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

The nose indicates some sherry, sweet and turf. When tasting you also taste some orange and spices. This results in a sweet, smooth medium long finish.
