  2. The Macallan scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

    Well balanced, great dram!
    • Nose
Rich, sherry, wood, cooling, fruity (tropical, dried fruit), very pleasant, later a smoke/musty like aroma from a warehouse
    • Taste
Dry, spiced fruit, creamy, warming, sherry/wood, salmiak
    • Finish
woody notes combined with dried fruit, a slight peppery finish with woodspices (cloves)

  3. St. Pauli scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A full-bodied, rather sweet dram. The part sherry maturation complements the distillery character, which is a bit sulphury (but it doesn't dominate). A pleasant dram but not too complex.
    • Nose
Intensely rounded. Most senses remind of sweet fruit, both fresh and dried: overripe banana, tinned peach, stewed plums and prunes, dates. Then the distillery character, slightly sulphury, shows. There is a bit of old leather and dunnage. The wood gives a bit of vanilla, and mead.
    • Taste
Rounded and oily, if not sugared. This is a bit too much to be much, as it isn't really counterbalanced. Think of baklava, dates, raisins, mead and plum sauce. Later there is a faint hint of fireworks and leather, especially towards the finale.
    • Finish
The finish is still sweet but then accompanied by an acidic layer of oranges. It's more meaty, with leather, stock and dunnage warehouse. The dried fruit is on the background now.

Although slightly sulphured a nice sweet and juicy Benrinnes. Tnx Erik for the sample!
    • Nose
Stewed fruits of figs and dates. Fruit cake. Raisins. Polished oak as well. Nutiness. Clear notes of sulphur at the background.
    • Taste
Quite waxy actually. Sweet fruitiness of tropical fruit and tangerines.. Marzipan and marshmellows. Now the sherry influence comes through. Tanninnes
    • Finish
Medium long. Sulphur again. Gingery. Vanilla, honey and some pepper.

  11. TDMartijn scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Nicely balanced whisky. Despite the 50% ABV no water added. Good example of a not-too-old sherried whisky, well done.
    • Nose
Strong nose, I like it. Sherry (obvious...), raisins, dried fruit, pecan nuts, old wood, furniture polish.
    • Taste
Raisins, dark fruit, green apples (a little like some cognac), nuts, furniture polish, fresh-mown grass, dark chocolate, creamy mouth feel. I like it a lot.
    • Finish
Quite long, creamy mouth feel and the chocolate stays a while.

  12. KayMeertens scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A bit weird, but I like that. The overripe fruit makes it taste more mature than its actual age.
    • Nose
Overripe fruit. Fig, date, grape, toffee, currants, avocado, dried apricot, raspberry, kiwi, butter and even potato. A little sulphur and burnt matches.
    • Taste
Fig, papaya, honey, caramel, date, tea, banana, leather and nutmeg. Quite fatty.
    • Finish
Fig, toffee, strawberry tea and a little eucalyptus. Again a little sulphur, but to an extent that it complements rather than destroys anything.

  13. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

N: creamy, very fruity, young sherry, raisins, grass, butter,
T: spices, fresh baked cake, fudge (hopjesvla), lemon, syrup and dates
F: spices - white pepper, egg, cassis and again the cake
    compared with Benrinnes 1998 WhB

  14. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    Note on label:
    Colour: Burnt amber.
Nose: Intense grape influence, honey, melted toffee, stewed fruit.
Palate: Full and rich, burnt hickory sauce, treacle toffee.
    Incredible monster sherry cask.
