Excellent if you like sweet cardboard juice.
    • Nose
Dusty nose, faded citrus, dry herbs.
    • Taste
Herbaceous mouth on dry grass, then big taste of wet cardboard with caramel.
    • Finish
Finish on slightly smoky wet cardboard and rose water with a few drops of geranium.

To me this smells dirty and gritty on the nose, approaching an off note?
The palate is awful, the sample has spoiled somehow, air has got to it.
I am unable to score this.

A rather unpleasant, sulphury and amost corky surprise with a rather woody and bitter finish. Difficult but not impossible to drink. Simply not my style, even though I generall love sherry bombs, especially from Bunna.

I can relate to hs305 reg the cardboard in the nise and to me a bit of wet cellar, slighty corky. <but it seems that my sample aired longer to reveal more of sweet yellow fruits. So to me the nose is actually quite pleasant. The dram looses it afterwards, starting out quite bitter, then more cardboard, wet cellar and cork. Some white pepper in the finish but the cork lingers on the tongue forever. Wonder whether this was due to a bad cork or a bad cask or distillate...

    Can't find sulphur, though.

Quite a healthy whisky - just nose it - there's no need to drink it at least out of this bottle.

[February, 2018]  I opened this bottle quite some time ago but I did not dare to write a review so far because of some strange, unidentifiable off-notes.  Nevertheless I have to do it and so I do it tonight.  I bought bottle no. 036 for 80 Euro in September, 2005.

I am not sure if this off-note really comes from the whisky or if the cork stopper of this bottle was foul.  Maybe someone who owns another bottle could clarify this...

The colour is amber and the texture shows a fat sticky ring with some tears and slow legs. The nose is a little shy and requires some time to open up. After that aromas of sweet fruits, green tea leafes, tobacco and this strange off-note emerge that smells a little bit cardboardy and like a musty attic. It is quite interesting but not really to my liking.
    • Taste
      76 76
The taste itself is dominated by this unpleasant off-note that tastes cardboardy and corky. I do not like this at all, even after detecting some other nice flavours that lurk in the background. Water turns the dram sweeter and smoother and it takes away some of this unpleasant off-note. Actually it is much better this way - without water I rate the neat dram 4-5 points lower.
    • Finish
      72 72
The dram arrives bitter (tannins) and astringent (plastics, metals) on the palate but it coats the whole of the mouth (usually this is great, but in this case it is not a fortune). The finish is rather long and again bitter-astringent with this disgusting corky taste.

    Sample supplied by hs305.

Somewhat astringent and with additional sharpness on the back end.

Not brutal, but not all the great either.
