wonderful malt, I like it very much. Very complex and balanced. It houses a great variety of flavors. Delicious!
    • Nose
Nice aromatic note, furniture polish, old wood, dried fruits, later changing into sweet citrus-fruity aromas, then again the sherry notes, raisins, plums, slightly sweet and spicy, very soft and harmonious, hazelnuts and a little vanilla and honey come a lot later
    • Taste
soft, creamy start, very fruity with peach and plums, honey, raisins, becoming slightly spicy, old wood comes, again with a slight hint of furniture polish, becoming oily and again the hazelnuts on the nose, very aromatic
    • Finish
nice spicy fruity finish, transitioning into sweetness and slightly bitter, a true basket of fruit reveals itself, becoming slightly sweet at the end. Great mouthfeel remains

Very pretty Glenrothes without false note.
Unfortunately, we lack a little depth.
    • Nose
      90 90
Nice delicate nose, on the fruit and a touch of sherry.
Apple, peach, plum, light banana, orange zest.
Hazelnut, walnut, nutmeg. A little kinder Bueno side.
      Slightly woody.
    • Taste
      89 89
In the mouth it is also very soft and oily
      Apple, pear, peach, unripe orange.
And we complete with the spices of the wood. Nutmeg, pepper, light milk chocolate, and hazelnut powder.
    • Finish
      89 89
Finish on orange zest, nuts, milk chocolate. Very soft.

A very complex and luscious dram, with a nose of honey, vanilla, brown sugar, dried fruits, and orange peel. The taste is honey, toffee, oranges, a hint of peaches, white grapes, and marmalade. The finish is slightly tart with white grapes, a hint of spices, and a slight kiss of smoke. Outstanding!

[June, 2005]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 71,50 Euro in March, 2005.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90.  My notes state a nice fruity and sherry profile.

Another great old style Glenrothes. I really like this one.
    • Nose
Fresh, rich, fruity - lots of citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, but also green sugar bananas, honey, hints of vanilla and wood - Very good!
    • Taste
Punchy, oily, creamy, fruity, more on cooked oranges, jam - subtle sweetness, the wood notes stay in the background - Great!
    • Finish
      Medium long, little zesty

This is one of the citrusy style Glenrothes - oranges and lemons. Not so much oak wood, sherry and no old books - just fresh like a young-at-heart scotch.

    Glenrothes 1973/2000 (43%, OB, 70cl) - 81 points
Nose: Ah... This is very nice indeed - sherry, wood, spices and furniture wax. Quite complex but very subtle as well; you really have to work at it.
Taste: Malty. Bittersweet and woody - but not too much. A bit softer than the young-uns.

    Whiskyfun by Serge

Glenrothes 1973/2000 (43%, OB) Colour: pale amber. Nose: very rounded attack, starting very nutty and malty, on some bold notes of walnuts and walnut liqueur (nusswasser), hot praline, baked pears topped with caramel. Gets then quite flowery (peonies), with also some fresh vanilla. A very nice nose, very osy, very classical and perfectly balanced. Mouth: oh, this time I feel it lacks some body, and the attack is sweet but unusually grainy. But it quick to adjust its aim a bit, with again quite some praline, fudge, caramel, honey We probably like more oomph but it a very nice all-rounder, although the recent 1972 (see above) is much, much better in my opinion. Anyway, 85 points for the 1973. (November 23, 2005)

Love this edition, this was the year that Secretariat won the triple crown, amazing. Also any bottle that was done in the millennium has potential value. Thanks to the guys in NYC for hanging on to one for me.
