Usually I have a problem with bitter notes, here it adds a lot of character and the sweet notes balance it out nicely.
    Single dram note.

Very cool. I really had to restrain myself, that I did not bark away the 2cl right away. I really liked it. But now I have not tried any water. Did not want to take the risk to screw it up.
    • Nose

A wonderful, old flavor comes first. Immediately there is leather. Followed by dried fruit and a kind of benzine. Geilo. Full, thick, creamy and cooked flavor. A sugary sweetness comes along. But now, piece by piece ... the dried fruits go in the direction of clearly raisins, figs and plums. Sour cherries, moist tobacco, menthol and dark berry jam. Lovage will prevail and add something like herbal liqueur. It also smells neat of fresh paint and dry wood. With some time in the glass the colleague becomes dustier with the corresponding modrigkeit. The sweetness of the sugar gives way and makes room for moist humus, moss and an acid note. Cold filter coffee and mens chocolate. I can not believe it completely. It changes constantly, the longer the air gets.
    • Taste
Very spicy, powerful, voluminous onset. Immediately the tobacco and herbs are in the mouth. Thyme and some balsamic. Fermented berry flavor. Has the taste of dates and roasted aromas. Like a freshly baked Christmas cookie with apricots. The harsh leather shows up as well. The second sip more meaty. Reminds me of roast and gravy. In addition juniper and more cereals. He just tastes old.
    • Finish
Long and with good bitterness. Then set sweetness in conjunction with cocoa and licorice.

An outstanding whisky! Incredibly rich, intense and very complex with a
beautiful nose, taste and finish. Simply stunning and powerful. The
thick sweetness and fruitiness balance the alcohol and tannins superbly.
A brilliant example of a well-matured sherried GlenDronach which I like
most. This is heaven in a glass!
    • Nose
Fantastic, rich nose with classic sherried notes of dark dried fruit,
plums, raisins, dates, and lots of demerara sugar. There's an
undisturbing whiff of sulphur coming through along with a hint of burnt
matches. Lingering nutty flavours emerge with delicate dark chocolate,
tobacco leaves, oak spice, and a hint of smoke. A gorgeous nose - you
can smell this for hours and hours!
    • Taste
This rich and flavourful profile continues on the palate: intensely
sweet, even syrupy with demerara sugar and lots of sherry. Liquorice,
pleasant stewed plums, dates and raisins with just a hint of wood smoke.
Smooth note of walnut and slightly bitter chocolate with oak tannins
and a touch of flintstone in the back. Delicious!
    • Finish
Wow, this is a what I call a finish. Incredibly long, sweet and warm.
Treacle and stewed dark fruit nicely offset with a touch of bitter
tannins in the back. Lovely marzipan and lingering walnut with a
      delicate mocha aftertaste. Beautiful!

      WITH WATER: There's almost no
change on the nose by adding a few drops of water. On the palate,
however, water sweetens even more but also brings more oak spice to the
fore. Very warm indeed. The tannins make the long finish a little dry
with gentle burnt matches on the tail.

  7. checkpointuk scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur Color: Old Gold / Amber
Nose: Heavy sherry nose, very alcoholic with fresh fruit components. Spicy salad dressing with a pleasantly light rubber touch. In addition dull notes of wet leaves, leather and marzipan.
Taste: Very powerful and creamy with salty-sweet fruit notes, lots of caramel, brown sugar, raisins and dark chocolate (cereal). Very balanced and balanced - ingenious!
Finish: long salty and still slightly fruity. Without wood and tannins, getting drier. Delicious.
Comment: As good as "wood-free" - which otherwise did not occur here in tasting.

Fantastic, rich nose in the true Glendronach style, but a class above the (already excellent) standard bottlings I`ve tried. The addition of some tropical fruit to the rich sherry aromas works beautifully. A couple of drops of water opened up things even more, with additional nutty elements coming through. The full, rich profile continues on the palate, leading to a long and memorable finish. Great stuff! Tasted straight from the cask at the distillery (March 2013).
