Whisky Reviews for Ladyburn 1973 BA

Disappointing Moltov - 38 years old, but there's no sense in it; and the beginning was quite positive - the aroma is very good, deep and saturated, the beautiful picture of prolonged aging in the bourbon barrel, and then down the inclined - the taste starting densely and saturated is suddenly limited to two or three components and further emptiness, the finish is also not happy, sad .
    • Nose
Open, dry, polished wood, nuts, eucalyptus, coniferous notes, resin, pickled cucumbers, salted grape leaves, orange peel, some tropical fruits, pastry tones - freshly baked shortbread, glaze, biscuit with jam; Vanilla, lemonade Duchess, pear, mango.
    • Taste
Dense, astringent and astringent oak, peppery wave, cooked vegetables, sweet compote.
    • Finish
Bitter, sour, oak, but some tired and emasculated, frostbitten tangerines, a little young bark, a little red pepper, metallic sour, vanilla.

Interesting and very good Ladyburn. Unfortunately, the bottle will set
you back around 800 EUR at least. Ouch!!
    • Nose
The nose is quite expressie on all kinds of fruit, from apple to litchi
to even strawberry. It is a bit bubblegummy, on the verge of chemical. Soft and
clean, despite the (redundant and in my opinion rather silly) cask sediment.
Quite fresh on mint. This is pleasant.
    • Taste
It is very fresh and lively on the palate, but still somewhat
lightweigth. All kinds of citrus emerge (grapefruit, lime), upholstered with
vanilla and cinnamon. Reminds me somewhat of my favourite distillery. If tasted
blind, I might very well confuse this with the Auchentoshan Valinch 2012. Not
as creamy, but fruitier. Midpalate, I get some strawberries.
    • Finish
The wonderfully long finish offers bubblegum again, but it is not disturbing.
