scbp-7581, a very simple and pleasant flavor skeleton, sour and sweet, but after doing a good job of stimulation and youthfulness, this is a new kitten of the highest level.
    • Nose
      91 91
The aroma in the cup is slightly occluded, butter, dust, chaff. Wake up after a while, with a strong sense of oil, with lemon peel oil, blueberry, green apple, quedon eggplant, sour passion fruit, sour. 91
    • Taste
      94 94
The acidity is strong, the flavours are intense and full, the presentation is quite fine and the mouthfeel is almost flawless. Cooked Apple, Sweet Orange, Strong Bubbles, Fanta, Plum, Sweet Passion Fruit, Mint Syrup. The oily feeling is full, the slightly astringent roasting feeling appears, the bitterness is not strong at the end, and it is comfortable and pleasant. p93b95
    • Finish

Green grass, mint, wall ash, a little orange film, and a little pepper. 90

    Clynelish 1972 24 yo 61.3%
Nose- grass covered with dew, typical of clynelish wax, white fruit, acacia honey, citrus, meadow full of spring flowers, mineral.
Taste - I would never say that there is 61 abv here, lemon peel, a lot of wax, oak, minerality, sweetness of vanilla, it turns into aromas of dried hay, it is beautiful here ❤
Finish - long, mineral, a lot of fruit, sweets, a hint of peat? ubiquitous wax, some varnish aromas, turns into a pleasant bitterness of oak.

Top 1 Clynelish I've tasted, beautiful whisky.

Juicy Ripe Pineapple on the nose, waxy lemons and even lemon leaf with a hit of green. Yellow flower and honey, even a note of gas, barley husks followed behind with a minerally note.

The palate it's oily and mouth coating, as it sinks into the palate you get the malty and lemony citrus note up front, chewing on bees wax from a honey pot. Peeled poached pears, lemon meringue, sultanas and vanilla. Leaving a long finish making you want to return for another sip.

Tasted at The Whisky Exchange Old & Rare Show 2021; Waxy Masterclass. (Dram No.6 of 6)

Again, without the internet I’m without the facts and figures. How refreshing.

N: Crikey, that’s more Brora-esque than the Brora [as it turned out]. What year did the Clynelish #2 move happen again? [WLP: 1968]. The nose is mindfully measured on honeyed/lightly syrup-ed tropical fruits with light underlying Shreddies. Then there are the other 100+ things one could explore in detail whilst pondering the very fabric of life.

T: Now more citrusy husky and oily [whilst succulently dry], the palate speaks of the barley, the cask, and the ‘magic’/chemistry that has occurred between the two. Hold it,….
F: ,… hold it,… for a squidgy husky citrusy barley release that speaks volumes. I imagine this has some fair age to it, yet it displays far fewer tannins than the Oban,… pah, why speak of tannins here at all?

C: A bottle wouldn’t last long. Let’s not hesitate in giving this 91 points.

Wax, lemons and honey, with gasoline and peaches, and a hint of eucalyptus smoke and oysters. The high abv gives a wonderfully oily palate while remaining smooth and integrated.

  7. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Fruits wax honey was expecting a bit more from a 72 Clynelish but still very good very fruity citrus some banana.

Sampled at Boisdale Canary Wharf. The end of a long session, didn't feel on top form.

The nose shows the classic RM markers, with dustiness and a slight sourness. The palate is fruity, with menthol, lemon and aniseed. The finish is long and salty.

Nice old Clynelish that arrives a bit strong at first but then settles down quickly with or without water.

Alcohol prominent on the nose. Behind it peaches, yellow plums, mangosteens, pineapple and mangos appear. Utterly lucious, ripe, almost dripping.

The taste is resembles the nose, with quite a strong grip and warming on the tongue and throat, and it takes a looooooooooong time going down predominantly with some ripe pineapples appearing when chewing. (If you like ripe pineapple, check out Glenlossie 1997 FR cask 6766). Oily.Wood kicks in quite a long time after the fruits and the alcohol have been washed away from my tongue.

With water, this bad fruity boy becomes quite a fruity softie (with yellow honey melons appearing). Whereas I prefer the nose with water, I prefer drinking it without. From a sample.

Tasted in parallel with the WTO DL 71 # 5055. The nose is a little less noble, but the mouth is damn racy. it's a draw.
    Superb.
    • Nose
Lemon candy nose. Apricot. Medicinal. A lot of eucalyptus. Really very well integrated. Light mineral sober.
There is also a slight buttery side, almost toasted. Great.
    • Taste
Mouth very fruity. Citrus. Yellow fruits. honeydew Mineral that stands out. It is really very balanced level aromas. Slightly floral on white flowers. A bit of alcohol but the beast ...
    • Finish
Final super long honey on lemon, acacia.

F: medium gold N: Fruit and cereals, no (!) Alcohol, seems closed G: Wow - Fruit and cereals without details - bulky, oily body - warm alcohol - gets hot, it definitely needs water. Sensitive natures could be scared here. A: long, alcoholic, needs water + H2O: water and more water: strong development, the alcohol-blocked aromas emerge: fresh citrus: oranges / nectarines, vanilla, aromatic wood (not: woody), grassy, tea, anise?

    WITH WATER

Flowery and fresh cut wood, it is it seems even thicker now which I put down to the Clynelish trademark waxiness. I also get fruit gums and fruit zest.
The finish is massive but I think it needs water to enjoy it properly and not just a few drops either.
    • Nose
      Honey, melon,wax,shoe polish,citrus.
    • Taste
Mouth coating, viscous on almonds, lemon and it is quite drying.
    • Finish
Huge but the alcohol burn is prickly.

Nose: Fruit gum, such as a freshly opened Haribotuete, oranges, some salt and a lot of smoke, lively character.
Taste: Strong creamy onset, malty, caramel, abrasion of orange peel, honey, vanilla and white pepper.
Finish: Long finish with a honey-like sweetness, carried by orange flavors, caramel and absolutely dry and slightly bitter oak notes.
Note: The finish is dominated by the wood

Nose: nutty, candle wax, fresh and sweet, fruity

Taste: honey, tangy, hints of smoke

    Finish: long with sweet fruits

    Nice!

  24. magic_slim scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A little better but quite similar to the Clynelish 1974 Rare Malts.
    • Nose
Slightly tingling and spirity. Very fruity (passion fruit and apples) with beeswax and vanilla. Classical Clynelish although not very complex.
    • Taste
Powerful with oaky toffeeish notes, mirabelles, wax and a little honey. White pepper as well. Clean and lovely.
    • Finish
Very long, warming and satisfying, mainly on caramel and oaky notes.
