Nothing wrong with this but also doesn't stand out for me.  It's original price was reasonable for what you get.
    • Nose
Soft, elegant, very fresh for 35 years.  Vanilla, baked apples, lemon zest.
    • Taste
Assertive oak, vanilla, orange peel, lemon ginger candies.
    • Finish
      Medium, oranges, pleasant bitterness.

Beautiful mouthfeel - cinnamon, candied orange, fresh vanilla beans, Christmas cookies. All paired with typical old bottle flavor. You can't go wrong with this anCnoc, buy recommendation.

sweet, syrup, candy, floral, yellow and red ripe fruits, malty, spices, a fine oaky tone as well. full of complexity, the first sip was sweet, then the spices kicked it and when I thought that was it there was a huge wave of floral sweetness again. the finish is quite supberb, the sweet and spicey tones mingle forever. Outstanding dram!

Fruit syrup, walk in a wooded field of wheat (WTF?) That rises in strength, until becoming almost too spicy at first. With the opening, ripe fruit, oak, chocolate more and more greedy, the fade typical of aged malt made its entry. In the mouth, it is well balanced between the fruitiness and the woody with more sweetness than the nose suggested. A little lack of power, maybe. Final woody, spicy, a little dry.

    Enthusiasm 4/5

    Elegant

This limited edition is made from 3 casks of American oak and Spanish sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. The casks yielded only 1.495 bottles. The casks were put to sleep while I was merely a 5 year old kid – many of you had not even seen the light of day yet. Let us give this one a go, eh?

Wow, what an elegant nose! Subtle on all kinds of honey, baked apples, some sultanas and candied lemon rind, but also a lot of pineapples and wild flowers. A touch of chicory.

On the palate, the wood is obvious. Some ginger and peper, some cedar wood. Then immeditately sweet apple pie, Seville oranges, cinnamon and a drop of quinine. Walnuts. Wonderfully mouth coating and even a bit smoky (woodsmoke, not peat).

The medium long finish on bitter oranges and a hint of dark chocolate ends in a surprisingly salty touch at the death.

A grand AnCnoc that makes me long for a second glass. Enjoy-whisky. Around 300 EUR. Not too bad for a whisky of over three decades.

    85P

    Nose: fine vanilla, apple, herbs

Taste: round and light, fluffy vanilla crescents, sweet and delicate mouthfeel, fruity aromatic

Finish: light and sweet no trace on tap and that after 35J

Verdict: slightly great Trinkmalt, with more intensity he would have landed in the 90P range

    TASTING NOTE LMDW:
Nose: first aromas of vanilla wood, warm apples and honey. Orange, cinnamon.
Palate: powerful and spicy body (cinnamon, pepper); chocolate and bitter orange. We find the vanilla aromas of the nose.
    Final: long and very elegant.
    Profile: spicy, greedy and warm.

Color: intense amber color Aroma: Very complex in the nose. First notes of sweet wood, caramel pudding and baked apples quickly followed by ripe sultanas and honey. Then orange oil and cinnamon and a hint of peppermint appear in the background. With a drop of water, notes of honeysuckle, gooseberry and chocolate-covered papaya unfold. Taste: Tasty start with notes of cinnamon and white pepper. Christmas cake and walnuts followed by bitter orange chocolate. Vanilla ice cream and a hint of lime. Finish: Intense finish with aromas of dried fruits, cocoa, citrus fruits and nuts. Very long and extremely elegant. Characteristics: Not cool filtered, undyed.

N: Close, intense flavours - sandalwood, incense, dried oranges, [dried fruit in general], tarmac, fresh limes, freshly mown grass thats then dried in the baking sun. That lovely floury grain shown in the AnCnoc 16 has matured with the wood to be more something very special indeed. Bananary-pineapple, floral honey notes [lots of notes, honeysuckle in particular]and massive caramel. reminds me of balblair '89
T: OK, thats different - Everything that the 16 had to offer has evened out, flattened out even.  Its a mild honey caramel [floury, but perfectly fluffy and honeyed now] waffle with mild wood and salty tannins to follow. Cinnamon wood and grassy earth with some faint aniseed [detection of sulphur, or is it turmeric?]
F: That salt honey caramel continues its determined course to a long drying conclusion. This is a whisky flat-liner, and a very charming one
C: Really yummy, but nothing spectacular or unexpected and with experience of other AnCnoc's, exactly what you'd expect from a 35yo AnCnoc - a seasoned pro. It is REALLY good, and it makes the 16yo taste like a new spirit.  Its done well with age, becoming assured and tempered, the wood taming that sickly sweetness of the 16. However for £200+ a bottle, despite being [quote], 'fairly priced', i could get 3x Balblair '89's for the same dosh. Furthermore, the 22yo is the best of the range in my opinion so i'd be buying that instead.

    Nose: Soft, tender-salty honey-sherry sweets,
Honeycombs, light smoke and herbs, sultanas, fresh
baked nut cake with vanilla flavors and spicy malt,
green gooseberries with a citrus freshness.

    Taste: Mild on, fruity-bitter on
Orange base with underlaid rubberiton, subtle honey,
tingling salt, tart leather, orange peel, Grand Marnier,
white pepper and oak. At the transition to the finish on the harshest.

Finish: Medium long, malty orange biscuit with
bitter wood. In addition, some nuts, cinnamon, raisins,
Cocoa, chocolate flakes (dry seasoning cake); delicious!

certainly liked this one, it is complex indeed but not the great whisky i expected  88p.

  25. hsmithjr scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

    Excellent show!
    • Nose
Very sophisticated nose.  Light (not too light, though), with beeswax, ginger, hummingbird liquid sugar food, new leather, ripe blueberries, green grapes, and vanilla pound cake.
    • Taste
More aggressive than I would have thought.  Starts out light, but then bitter, with naval oranges and dried lemons.  Becomes a bit tropical with banana daiquiri, followed up by that ginger from the nose.  Oak.  Oily and mouth coating.
    • Finish
Medium.  More oranges.  A nice bitterness dries the mouth.  Faint hints of bar chocolate.

A fantastic release from An Cnoc, the oldest bottling in their regular

range at 35 years old. A combination of a small number of bourbon and

sherry casks to produce a balanced, sweet and fruity dram.
