Whisky Reviews for Port Charlotte 2001

- Very intense, full bodied whisky. Some subtle smoke combined with nice sweet notes, great whisky for sure.
Strong alcohol at once, slight smoke and peat, fruity and grassy, citrus, vanilla, raisins, and some hay as well.
Some sal ammoniac initially, a lot of pepper, strong, powerful. Sweet smoke, very intense. Some sweetness as well, vanilla, caramel.
Still very strong, pepper, a little bitterness underneath now. Then some sweetness, vanilla and honey. Warming feeling.
- A peat bomb with a whiff of rum, clearly not my cup of tea!
Very intense smokiness (reduced: some rum influences and still smoky)
Soked flavour, smoked sweetness, briny
Briny, spicy long lasting peaty dryness

peat and even some diesel oil, but the rum plays first violin. And frankly: it
works perfectly! Add some water and it becomes a little farmy with loads of
Spicy and peaty on
the palate, but immediately very sweet. Oranges liqueur, nuts, vanilla,
mandarins, raisins, brown sugar, they all roll easily over the taste buds,
despite the high ABV. A touch of liquorice and mint, too. Zesty! The maritime
traits, like on the nose, duck their heads. Midpalate, it starts to pick up
… to end in a very
brackish but long and warm finish.
