The sherry is very discreet here, but that doesn't prevent you from having a little marvel in the glass.
Complex, precise, progressive, nothing but compliments.

The nose is really very pretty.
The peat is light, creamy, slightly camphorated.
We have a lot of citrus fruits. Oranges, fresh mandarins, but also their zest. A little bit of lime, with its characteristic freshness.
A good meal of spray, salt. We recognize there a nice marine marker.
A little toffee. Light tobacco. White pepper.
      Pencil lead, graphite.

It's decidedly complex, and superbly balanced.
With aeration, the medicinal product takes up more space.
    • Taste
      92 92
In the mouth, we start with pepper, tobacco, undergrowth.
Then very quickly we have an orange concentrate, mixed with a superb oily peat.
It is more concentrated than on the nose, on lemon candy, camphor, Listerine.
      We have smoke, cloves.
The salty side is still present, but set back, on the oyster shell.
      Light toffee.
    • Finish
      92 92
Long, creamy, sweet finish, on cigars, orange zest, white pepper
We keep in the mouth like salt crystals, mixing with the saliva deliciously.

Nose: Very pleasant and fruity round first impression in the nose. Sweet peat and smoke combine well with delicate flavors of lime, plum and raspberry with vanilla. White peppercorns make their mark through the fine, dry Sherry sweetness.
Taste: Salty, peppery, peaty and smoky. Again lemon and vanilla, but only a little sherry influence. Ashes, tart mocha notes with hints of a beach fire with a salty sea breeze.
Finish: Long salty and again with dull red fruit flavors. Rosehip tea, oak with delicate bitter notes. Towards the end, the sweetness comes out again.
    92 points (nose: 92 / taste: 92 / finish: 91)

Loads of citric lime mixed with maritime touches. Not very sherried, which is a good thing when the juice is a 30yo Port Ellen.
    • Taste

Wow. Tremendous stuff. Waves of intensity. I wouldn't call this super complex or sublime, but it hits you with a large hammer until submission. Lime, iodine, maraschino cherries, bitter orange peel, with sprinklings of salt.

      93 93
      Long, unadulterated pleasure.

Incredible balance of rich fruit with oily peat, brine and grease, some herbal syrup and smokey caramel.

smoked ham, subtle smoke, ripe apples, peat and moss, oranges, mocha, liquorice root, liquorice candy and a salty edge! what a dram!
    • Finish

prunes, peat, seasalt, white pepper, an ashy edge, nutmeg, thick layer of smoke, dark chocolate, liquorice root and liquorice candy and a dash of laurel

    Color :
    Old gold, mahogany reflections

Nose: a luxurious, fine, classy peat. Smoke, lemon, spices, such as pepper, a light sulfur side, dried fruits, nuts.
    But also wild strawberries.

Mouth: HOUA! My God ! An explosion in the mouth of flavor, pepper, the smoke which, on the nose was light, fills our palate, it is magnificent. Like a wave of smoke in your mouth.

A finish on smoke and dried fruit.

Comments: a monster! Very complex, superbly integrated alcohol and present in the mouth
    Thanks PE!

Nice lightly sherried PE, orange demerara sugar toffee, sweet coastal peat, very nice.

I tasted this one already 3 years ago and once again it's not the expected beast. The sherry is quite discreet. The nose is gentle and complex, the palate is sharp and tasty and turns quite fruity with a few drops of water. A great Port Ellen.
    • Nose
Gentle nose. Peat smoke, tar, orangey and lemony notes at first. Leather, tobacco, coastal notes (seaweeds), medicinal notes (camphor), mineral notes (pencil shavings). A bonfire on the beach. Hints of pine resin.
    • Taste
Oily, smoky, spicy and fruity. Dark chocolate, oranges, lemons, ginger and pepper, brine and aromatic herbs.
With water, more fruits on the nose and palate. Red and black berries. Meaty notes.
    • Finish
      Long, smoky, orangey and mentholated.
